Re: Rickenbacker

I got a dean sarasota new from ebay for <NZ$1.5K (incl case). don't seem to be around any more. the boca are pretty inexpensive, but have a bolt on neck. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice mine is, and it's a gibson scale neck (making it easier on the hands for 12 strings than a longer scale). p...

Re: Metal distortion pedals? (Fullbore vs Nano Metal Muff)

Blackstar dist-X sounds amazing, tube warmth, most of the tranny based stuff sounds horrid, the homebrew version of the triple rectifier preamp sounds cool tho, Dr Boogie is its name :) dr boogey is based on the dual rectifier, hence being called "dr" boogey, not "tr" boogey. th...

Re: Why are tube amps so loud?

I like the idea with smaller amps that if you need to move more air, you just add more to the chain. A Matamp C7 and Greenstone Bellbird 5 (both under 10 watts each) running together can deliver some serious volume. I find that the C7 could be used in any band scenario unless you at the point of mi...
