Re: The Rockbox Boiling Point Thread
Speaking of Jan Ray/Timmy clones, I built the Coda Effects Golden Hour and it has WAY too much volume; unity is with the knob at 9am. I don't remember my original Timmy being like that. Any reason this would be the case? I feel like I need to send it to someone to diagnose for me. My Jan Ray clone ...

Had it floating around the garage for ages, but pretty sure it was from AliExpress.calling card wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 2:40 pm Where did find that grill cloth? Usually offshore only at least when I've needed it.

Re: British style 1x12 from scraps
Quite glad I was forced to do it in 4 pieces, the gold piping looks choice. It's just cloth piping from a craft store, but does the trick. It's only held in with staples so can replace with the proper stuff if I want.

Re: What's on your work bench?
I'd been looking at dewalt and working out if it was worth 1700 bucks... and I figured, lets find out how much I use, under 7 hand shandy worked for me :) After first use I think it could be a keeper, can't get spiral cutters or anything for it as far as I know but hey, it did the job! The Dewalt i...

Re: British style 1x12 from scraps
Looks awesome so far! I used vinyl to wrap my 18W. Followed the instructions from an Uncle Doug youtube video, fender style. I used a cheap wallpaper seam roller from mitre10, and the long tack Ados glue on the timber, spray Ados on the vinyl. Worked a treat. Just make sure to paint black under whe...

Re: British style 1x12 from scraps
I wonder if you could find some wire with gold coloured insulation or some other thing you could misuse :mental:  The other option is to ring a local upholsterer or check out craft stores like spotlight  Yeah good call. I have some clear-coated speaker wire somewhere which might loo...

Re: British style 1x12 from scraps
I realised if I follow the proper 18W Marshall style, it will allow me to get away with 4 pieces using piping in the gaps. Does anyone know a local supplier, or does anyone have a stash, of the thin gold Marshall piping without the lip/flange? https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/piping-marshall-g...

Re: British style 1x12 from scraps
Nice!
Would you say the roller tool is essential?
Yeah ideally a single wrap would have been better, but I'm just making do with what I have for this.

Re: British style 1x12 from scraps
After the usual 6-month delay in getting back to my unfinished projects... I finally have some vinyl to cover this thing. It ain't tolex, but I'm doing this cab on a (close to) zero-budget, so some free boat vinyl from a friend will do nicely. Problem is, it's not quite enough to wrap around the cab...
