Re: Really keen on opinions

Not something i listen too but: The good: The drummer is good, the songs I think work for the genre, clear sound. The bad: The guitars seem ... lacking, not sure if it is the mix or levels, the actual lead parts are ok though, there is also an over all volume difference in the tracks, like track 1 s...

Re: Worst debut album?

Pantera... well anything pre CFH, I think they did about 4 hairspray albums.... ummm most are already mentioned.
Most bands I listen to start off kick ass then just lump out like a pile of poo.

Re: Compression in recording questions...

Cool, cheers, makes sense. At the moment I am venturing into live drum sounds, going to make a weekend of it soon, see what different things we can come up with. Next band project will be one guitar, one bass, drums and vox set up, so will be relying on everything sounding as good as i can get it, n...

Compression in recording questions...

Ok, this is something I haven't really used much, lately I have been fooling with it on drum tracks and vocals, I guess what I really want to know is, what does compression actually do? (Simple terms would be great), and how is it best utilized when recording?
Cheers

Re: Song: Urges Bled

I think the song itself is excellent, really like the vocals a lot!! The music is killer, playing is awesome, the only things I could pick up were maybe the mix of the bridge is a bit different to the rest of the track, like the drums are coming through really clear and the guitar, but doesnt sound ...

Re: Recording with Audacity

Audacity is good for the actual recording part. Ive done the direct line in, through M audio and toneports, audacity handles it all no probs. Best if you can get something like a little mixer or toneport etc
Get the best sound you can before recording then it's all about the levels.

Re: Recording - the next step. Opinions wanted!

Back to the OP, what have you got to record with ? Ive done heaps like using DKFH for drums and using the rest live, or programming live drum hits to direct recording or the full mic situation. Granted my recording arent the best but you can do a fucking lot with limited budget and a bit of time. Gi...
