Re: Studio vs stage compressors - questions
You mention the sounds you're hearing in your head. Is it like something youve heard on record somewhere? One of us (I'm looking at you, bender) might be able to have a listen to and tell what's going on. Ears, are planning on using the comp for electric or acoustic or both? a) I suspect Santana's ...

Re: Studio vs stage compressors - questions
I'm still in a dither about compressors for guitar. I've had boss in the past and currently have a diamond but TBH by the time its turned up enough to have any effect, its actually become an 'effect' and not one I particularly like that much. I've asked many times before why people like them but ha...

Re: Studio vs stage compressors - questions
Good question. Do you have any reasonably good recording software you can use to try things with? I use Logic Pro and the new Pedalboard plug in is pretty good. There are heaps of excellent plug ins that emulate classic studio gear so you can actually mess around and compare them on the same track ...

Studio vs stage compressors - questions
I'm thinking of building a compressor and a brief internet research convinces the MXRDynacomp/Ross/Keely (the later two being variations on the first) are really the standard stompbox/stage gadgets to use and or build. But I'm intrigued by reading good reviews of studio compression gear, like in the...

Re: Tuning Issues
I havent watched the vid cos its a bit slo here..but heres my approach: I leave very little for winding...on the wound strings I only have 1 -2 winds and on the unwounds 2 - 3. I have few issues with tuning. +1 for nylon strings as well. This seems to make a big difference when using stretchy, and ...

Re: show us your home made pedals
impressive! gut shots? Sorry, but can't open it up wider than 2cm without going to hassle of removing the pcbs from flush mountings, see pic. But you can just see behind the IEC socket the white housing I made to shield and house the transformer. It's made from a Watties soup can "Very Special...

Re: show us your home made pedals
I don't do painting. :( I don't do battery power. :( I can do fugly. The AER Classic pro amp proved to be too hi fi, with way too much presence for my taste so I needed to design and build an active lowpass filter. selectable 6 breakpoints which are all freq adjustable about +-15% to ensure full swe...

Re: Reverse delay query?
I'm working on my concept of reversed delay cct. I've tentatively decided to call it the "hurry-up" or the "forward anticipation" pedal . It aims to play notes before you even think of them. Proving harder than I thought as it won't simply behave genre wise. For example, get set ...

imo drip feeding the market would return more than just dumping them all at once.

Re: how to remove my ground hum
The body is an antenna, hum that disappears when you touch the strings is hum induced by the body's proximity to the guitar being earthed, see BJ and Ash.
Out of interest, is the hum still audible when you are well away from the instrument but with the guitar still plugged in?

Re: how to make your own PCBs
Thought I'd mention that I was in Bunnings yesterday, the ozaki tool is now $59, so maybe the Jaycar tool is better value as it includes a snake extension for the chuck.
I found my regular drill press handles 0.8mm just fine so have no need for either..
