I was thinking while watching it that they make Chappers and The Captain seem calm and relaxing in comparison
Yeah man - them both in one video is too much.

I could watch that older English bass player on Andertons channel alllll day though

Rhett Schull for bassists.

Scott’s early stuff was awesome but now I just find them insufferable.

Do I like anyone anymore

Re: Bass effects!

Never a huge fan of the SP comp on bass but comp is where I get disgustingly cork sniffery. The blend makes a massive difference and if you have a cheap clone coming you’ll be happy. I don’t like Ross style compressors and greatly prefer optical

Trouble shooting the non functioning trem now Plate voltage to v3 pin 6 on and off with push pull/foot switch for trem and I can hear a faint ticking that comes and goes as youd expect with those manouvres. The ticking responds to speed and depth controls but no audile tremolo in guitar signal. Cou...

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?

Preamps, if you use one on your pedalboard is having one in your bass therefore redundant? especially if its of far lower quality? Depends – preamp on the board is set and forget. The one on your bass is much more likely to be adjusted in the heat of battle. In all honesty though, I would go preamp...

Re: Bass effects!

What sort of scenarios do you guys use an octave pedal for? On guitar I've used it for weird high pitched sounds or adding some low end to fatten up my toan, but interested to hear why you use one on bass :-) I use one live for when I'm playing a 4 string and but need the big power the low B to D# ...

Re: Bass effects!

I now use a Whammy but it's only for Tool stuff really. I've tried quite a few others. If it's for a synth-bass type effect, you can't beat a Boss OC-2 or the OC-5's emulation of it. For general use, I think the TC Sub'n'Up is more than capable. Aguilar Octamizer is probably the fattest octave-down...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

Ooops, my bad! Do you have a Cub 8 schematic - I can't find one? P.S. I'm just interested is all :D So apparently the Monoprice 5W is the same amp under a different name, its all surface mount bullshit but I have seen people who have added a NFB pot wired to the pads where the NFB resistor is... R1...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

5751's all the way for me, and thanks to MikeC, I have a few to tide me over. Not sure if you'll see much difference in headroom tbh, for that I'd have thought you'd need to venture into the 12at, 12au or 12ay realm. I'm sure I have some kicking around if you wanted to try. Thanks for the offer, bu...

Re: Speaker/s for tremolux

I have a lovely 30w blonde tremolux piggy back that I’m doing a little service work on Just looking at the cab. I’m running a Jensen 100w jet tornado in the cab as a 1x12 . It’s a great speaker to be sure but I have never really tried it with much else …. Until I popped it thru my bassman 2x12 (emi...

$699 usd!

That’s taking the piss now. $1200-1500 NZD

I mean, I like reverb and I get they’d need to put two chops in there to get true spillover (a la Ventris) but that’s eye watering.

Re: Show us your pedalboard

How’s it compare to that current popular RAT based pedal the 1981 DRV? I haven’t had the pleasure of playing one yet, but the DRV is sort like if you put a buffer in front of the rat, simplified the RC network off the first gain stage to be just have one, swapped the JFET output to an Opamp, and th...

Re: Show us your pedalboard

Mudhoney is a Rat with 3 parts changed that make it sound very much not like a Rat. If you put the boost on, that’s almost exactly the Rat circuit. Boost off it’s closer to Tubscreamer. It’s also buffered. The reason why you’d say it’s a rat is that it uses a single Opamp with a dual rc network, har...
