Fireman 2.0

Matman's Fireman was a bit of an attention-grabber on Paul Gilbert's lesson-forum and one of the other students commissioned this one in his daughter's name for the odd Sunday gig. Probably the most or second most expensive and time consuming job I've done. I'll be very pleased when it has safely ar...

Re: New Dimarzio PAF Master set

A very strange choice of guitar to demo PAFs. Post guitar settings not very enlightening, either.

Probably good pickups, though. Will be keen to see other demos.

Re: Can you tell these Tele's apart?

My guess is that the first one is probably the USA tele, but possibly the Korina one.

JVPP one is probably #3, but maybe #2

Definitive guess:

1: USA
2: Korina
3: JVPP

The dolphin guitar solo followed by his being eaten alive by an angry orca. That was in there right? Not just a dream?

Re: NGD: Stevens LJ

Wow, a very fine choice, Sir!

There can't be many Stevens products down this way...

It has a lot in common with the various Robin guitars that Crushing Day and Benderissimo have had. Could be a Texan thing.

Re: Doyle Coils. Worth the dosh, or just cork sniffery?

I don't have many thoughts on the pickups themselves other than that they "sound like PAFs". However, I think the video is pretty much worthless propaganda and of dubious value and/or accuracy. Without a back to back comparison of another set of pickups, it's pretty much impossible for any...

Radian Tele Resurrected

One of the first Radian Teles from many years ago never sold and its parts got transplanted onto various other guitars. After way too long and much haggling, the one-piece sapele body finally found a new owner who laid out some specs for its revival: ~ Mahogany neck with custom headstock shape ~ 25....

Re: Brian May Rig Rundown

There's a guy in Italy, "CQuadro" who has been making quite a lot of them and very well, by the look of it. He even made a Tele/Red hybrid for Brian May. Just this week he's been forced to stop in the middle of a batch of about ten. Suspected legal wrangles. https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akama...

Re: Brian May Rig Rundown

That was awesome. I don't know when I'll ever get around to building one, but there's still a 10mm thick pile of Red Special plans right under this keyboard I'm typing on. I've only been putting it off for 22 years so far ;) That f-hole one, though - And what about the shirt Brian was wearing...

That looks really cool - glad to see the neck fits and suits your tastes :D

Yes, it is kwila. Well selected pieces make a great no-finish neck. Slick, tough, stable.

Re: Big year, big changes at Ash Customworks - OMG Thread

Since people keep asking and Chinese Whispers tends to give bollocks answers, here's an update on the future plans for Ash Customworks. So you aren't restructuring because the guitar stuff is interfering with your other career as a (depending on which whisper one listens to) gigolo/ninja assassin ?...

Eventually I'll be working a normal job like everyone else to make a living Booooooooooooooooooooo. You were a bastion of hope that 9-5's could be denied For some people and some businesses there is still hope. My business has become too broad and complex for my one-track brain to keep up with. No one has ever asked, that I can remember.

Someone once asked about binding alone, but wasn't serious enough to actually pay the price or wait the wait.

Re: Big year, big changes at Ash Customworks - OMG Thread

Thanks for the update Adrian. I have my fingers crossed i will be able to get another Radian (or 2  :D ) before you pass on that torch! Out of interest, what is a Zombie guitar? I have a handle on the Custom Works, Ash and Radian line but Zombie is new to me :?: PS. Are you back from your ho...
