I've never liked playing them. The rubber strings mean it's very hard work to slide into notes. And they just feel weird. Floppy and sticky and way too fat.
If you're just going to boomp along to chords though they're great fun.

Love the little leaf popping itself through to check it out too.
LOL My wife doesn't. If she sees it she'll have a moan about the (alkie) neighbour's weeds coming through

NGD Artist Cherry58
I've scored an Artist Cherry58 off a friend. It's basically an ES-335 copy. I'm quite impressed by how well built the thing is. My friend reckons he didn't need to sand the frets or anything. Amazing considering it sells for under NZ400, shipping included. I find it a real looker, too. Amazing what ...

Re: Post-Rock Artists
This is going to sound patronising but I'm being quite sincere... One thing I don't understand about post-rock... Is it meant to have memorable, hummable melodies or is that superseded? Or is it like bebop where it all goes over my head? I ask because I do like post-rock a lot but aside from a pleas...

Re: Cheap is 'GOOOOOD'
Ah! I have the baritone version of that! I like it a lot. I had some SD pups lying around and I swapped them out. I was a bit annoyed when the "vintage white" turned out to look a lot more like beige in real life but I took to it with sandpaper and "relic"ed. :D Looks quite good!...

I took a guess. I have several in random shelves and closets.

(non pork) crackling
Weird occasional crackling sound from guitar while I am playing. Momentary volume drops too. I tried several different leads and plugging straight into the amp. Problem persists across different pickup combinations (neck, bridge, middle) P-Bass style output jack (on scratchplate) I finally managed t...

I liked his video! Funny guy. I guessed his point about SPOILER ALERT: the additional time that needs to be spent on setting up and fixing problems though.

Re: NAD: Orange Crush 35RT
“Want something with a largish speaker” and you buy an amp with a 10”? Just teasing mate, cool story, yes I read all of it, a shame how much money drives our options, glad you like it though, good on you! To be fair, the combo box makes it LOOK like a 12" speaker. I didn't twig until I got it h...

NAD: Orange Crush 35RT
Short version: I bought an Orange guitar amp. I really, really like it. TL;DR version: A very unusual and kind of symbolic day for me. I've played mostly bass since 1983 and acoustic bass at that since about 2000. As a result, I've been playing through wedges and ultra clean bass amps for a very lon...
