Re: The Bull Kelp Surfers July 5th Portland Public House

I caught you guys at the same venue, sheesh, maybe 10 (or more) years back!

Does the drummer still wear a mask and snorkel?

Thanks for the feedback. Was that with or without the cab?
Just the head. In great order for its age.

What Makes a Good Song

What does it for you?

Personally, I like when the performers give me the impression they mean it.

Here's some food for thought.

jeremyb wrote: Thu May 16, 2024 7:46 pm What sort of scenarios do you guys use an octave pedal for?

On guitar I've used it for weird high pitched sounds or adding some low end to fatten up my toan, but interested to hear why you use one on bass :-)
I just use octive, and any effect for that matter, as ear entertainment.

Nice score. There seems to be an reflux of old Jamsens on the market right now

Re: Bass effects!

I now use a Whammy but it's only for Tool stuff really. I've tried quite a few others. If it's for a synth-bass type effect, you can't beat a Boss OC-2 or the OC-5's emulation of it. For general use, I think the TC Sub'n'Up is more than capable. Aguilar Octamizer is probably the fattest octave-down...

Cory Wong - Epic Funk Guitar

I'm sure we must have discussed the amazing talent of Cory Wong here before. If not, let's talk about funk. Apparently Cory uses a Wampler Ego Compressor.

I've become a total Greco Geek! This one is an absolute darling! She's been around the block a few times, which just adds to the mojo. Plays like butter, as all Greco's seem to, and I think she is mostly intact, though I will look under the hood later this week and see if the pickup's are the origin...

Re: Did a dumb thing...guidance and advice please....

That's a pretty low level of dumb thing...don't beat yourself up too much. I was expecting something like, got caught with a stash, at my neighbour's house, nude, covered in peanut butter type scenario. That's a very precise, hypothetical scenario Grant. Do you think about this sort of thing often?...
