Re: Offset chat
Does an Explorer count as an offset, or is it too offset? It's the guitar I have wanted since the 1980s. I always end up with something less radical though, e.g., SGs and LPs etc. kowe0xjfitn41.jpg There is a strict technical definition which we adhere to on this thread. Unless we're talking about ...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
No! Do the 18W! It's such a sweet little amp. It was the sound in my head for fifteen years and was just as good as I remembered when I eventually bought one. They are cool sounding for sure. The 20 watt JMP 2061 ones that Paul Gilbert often uses sound great as well. It's just that I am much more f...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
I don't have any pre-made turret boards but I can make them. That's what I do for the amps I build. If you name a Trinity amp I can build the turret board for you. So did you do a mod to V1a cathode circuit? I have decided not to use the unpopulated Trinity Amps '18 Watt Plexi Mk II' turret board I...

Re: Is there a power supply with 16v AC outputs?
This one has 16v AC with enough milliamps to run that pedal

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
Have you got transformers, valve bases etc? None of that yet. Just doing the turret board for now. If the nephew is keen after that, I'll look at ordering everything else. Good luck! I have almost decided not to build that amp. I think I could do it if I had the whole kit, but not when trying to ma...

Re: What’s this Strat worth?
More than a Mex one usually, less than a US one (whatever the heck a US standard is called these days -- I've lost track). From what I see it's closer to Mexican prices than most US ones. A decent condition Mexican one can fetch just over $1K, so I would not go too many 100s past that for a MIJ one.

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
I've built a few of these and have used a standard Plexi chassis. Which actual model is the amp? The turret board is Trinity Amps 18 watt 'Plexi'. Looks like a JMP 1974 'TMB' for the most part to me and the board has the same turret layout between every version of 18 watter they do it seems. I stil...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
I bought an unpopulated Trinity Amps 18 watt turret board from somebody here about ten years ago. I finally ordered the parts to do something with it, plus some spares for my Plexi clone. They just arrived from Valve Storm in the US. The nephew is keen to solder it all. Good, because I am not quite ...

Re: Synth Chat
The word synth makes me think of robot dancing at the school disco in Milton Keynes, UK during the early 1980s. It was a bit of a craze for a while. The New Order song Blue Monday and Duran Duran etc. It was so futuristic, but now seems old fashioned. At least we were not like the previous generatio...

Re: Must have plugins?
I do not know about must have, but must not have is IK Multimedia's stuff like T-Racks etc. Buy one of the racks and they make you install the entire suite of plugins locally on your computer, so you can try them out I guess. Apart from SSD space, it clogs up my plugin browser in Reaper. I only own ...
Re: Strats.
Probably over half of my favourite players primarily played a mostly stock Stratocaster, e.g., Rory Gallagher, early Dave Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, or early Ritchie Blackmore, etc. Over half of the ones that did not play a Strat played some form of heavily modded Strat or super Strat, e.g., Dave M...

Re: Les Paul and Tele tuning stability tips?
I have wondered for a while why the internet rags on Les Paul and Telecaster guitars over tuning issues, but the worst offender gets a pass. The Stratocaster (apart from the hardtail). P.S. A lot of the talk about the issues various guitars have that now circulate on the internet were influenced by ...

Re: The Knopfler Auction
The 1985 Les Paul going for almost as much as the 1959 one surprised me. Was it BG who grabbed the Steinberger? The Southern Jumbo looks almost exactly like the one I had when I was 16 that I bought saving up my 1980s building site money. It was mid '50s too. :( https://www.christies.com/lot/lot-646...
