Re: Ozzy and Judas Priest double bill. March apparantly
Scorpions and the Def together? Shit. Never liked Def Leppard. I always thought they were a pop band. Roth era Scorpions is the stuff i like. Some really clever music that I think might have even influenced bands like Rainbow. Then the 80s came along and Scorpions went a bit pop metal themselves.

Re: Show us your flame
I get flame cravings, but I am kind of over it at the moment. Not so much drooling over mega dollar old Les Paul videos either. I like my plain Jane, no frills Les Paul in black, although i still want a nice SG in black or dark vintage cherry. A korina Explorer too. An ash Tele perhaps. Nah. I just ...

Re: Where do covers bands play in Auckland?
Five bands for 5 bucks, open mics and jam nights still exist, Jazz nights, blues nights, acoustic duos, plenty of those, but they are a different deal to the question asked. Places covers bands play are places willing to pay >$1500 for a 4 or 5 piece band. Not so many of those left. Really. I figur...

Re: Ozzy and Judas Priest double bill. March apparantly
I think Rob Halford will be able to deliver the goods (pun intended) Ozzy can be hit or miss. I have seen clips where his voice is not happening and other ones where it does. Roll of the dice as to whether he will be good on the night. I also find age causing somebody to struggle a hard to watch at ...

Re: Where do covers bands play in Auckland?
Things have changed huh. There used to be quite good bands playing at parties in West Auckland in the late 80s. Probably the best cover band then was called Dry Ice. They used to pack out pub venues. Westward Ho mostly. Then there was five bands ofr five buck at the Powerstation. Always bands on to ...

Re: Ozzy and Judas Priest double bill. March apparantly
I want to go, but i am thinking the combination of Zakk's squeals and Judas Priest trying to be a modern metal band might be a bit much tbh. it could be a great gig, but it kind of depends on the set list.Bg wrote:No. definitely not.

Ozzy and Judas Priest double bill. March apparantly
Who is going to go see Ozzy and Judas Priest double bill in March? I prefer Ozzy before Zakk and prefer Judas Priest's first few albums and I do not think we will get much of that. But I think I will go. The last chance to see some legends live perhaps. Still kicking myself for missing Black Sabbath...

Re: Pedal Preamp - Interesting idea
Tube preamp pedal with an effects loop basically? Cool idea, maybe a new spin on one that's been around forever. Also I think this seems like one of those products that the moment you try and integrate more pedals with it, it will become 1000% more complicated! Running a preamp into an FX return is...

Re: Pedal Preamp - Interesting idea
Players gradually moved from amps and pedals to rack systems with preamps and rack effects in the 80s. Then there was a renaissance of the pedals into an amp thing. It looks like things are going into the rack level complexity again, but the difference being that the gear is on the floor instead of ...

Re: Sweet Squier's...with questions...
If you are serious about music and having a guitar that makes you sound good you need to spend a lot of money. Little things like strings coated with nickel iron oxide really do make a difference. It takes time to get these things though.
