Re: Whats on your amp workbench?

Re: Cab building tips?
With it being for my vox, there is no frame under the grille cloth, so the t-nuts are counterbored. Fender and Marshall style would be to have a shallow frame around the outside to hold the cloth away from the actual baffle. No counterbore needed. Top tip, spray your t-nuts black else they will shin...

Re: Cab building tips?
Here’s how I do a baffle - this is a Vox style
3 passes does it, I hold the router in place and slowly turn the baffle, there is a nice big chunk of sacrificial wood underneath

Re: Cab building tips?
I'd use the biggest you can get, but anything is better than nothing, its just to get a bit more support and glue area. If you can't get ones long enough, just sink them further in from the top

Re: What's on your work bench?
Not on mine. This needs a full overhaul to bring it back to its former glory (if there ever was any). It is a No. 4. BG's work bench has first right of refusal. Shipping to BG on me. If it goes to anyone else then shipping costs are yours. 20240527_161239.jpg Ooh thanks muchly, I will take if that’...

Re: Whats on your amp workbench?
Had Sunday lunch then a gossipy catch up with my project lead from my old company, CTO is appearing to be even more unhinged, which was nice. Consequently only got an hour or so to do the tolex wrap. I’d love crème vents like the head I did for Ben but can’t justify the costs yet. Anyway, wrapped it...

Finally spending some quality time with the Peter Green AC15 cab
Cab jointed, all voids filled ready for tolex. Vents to be added first! Don’t forget BG!
Yeah ok it’s going to be Emerald Green

Re: Cab building tips?
Other advice: Make a circle-cutting jig for your router to cut the speaker hole. Just cut the rough hole first with a jigsaw (lesson learnt hard way). Corners are a bastard to tolex if you're not covering them. You never have enough clamps. Never had a problem with circle cutting, never bothered wi...
