Very nice. Lefties, too! -that must have taken some special ordering.

Looks like you need an R6...

I'm sorry, robs - I don't know the answer to your question (the origin of HW1 series). The only comments I can make just confirms what everyone else here has already said: Firstly - I prefer Fender over all marques for me - others differ - no problem - I either have or have had Fenders from USA, Me...

Can I scrape in with a Zinky designed Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb and a Mesa Blue Angel? -not truly boutique, but this is NZ, not exactly an amp paradise.

I tried out the handwired Marshall combo, and was very impressed. It'd be excellent for small club/recording use.

AC30s are great amps, IF they're meticulously maintained by a good technician. I've seen more AC30s fall over at gigs than any other amp, and finding one that has been well looked after in NZ, where good techs and knowledgeable owners are thin on the ground, can be a tricky process. As for wattage a...

Yeah, there's boogies and there's boogies. They still make plenty of classy little combos, but they are really known (as far as their modern stuff goes) for making death-amps - The Duel rectifier and the triple recto (the same but 150 watts (!)) are big rock behemoths, suitable for stadium rock and...

As far as the low end modellers go, I like the vox stuff the best. The roland stuff is pretty good, to. Both would make solid beginner/practice/home recording amps. I personally think the cheaper l6 stuff sounds terrible, but in the end, your ears will be the best judge. trundle off to a shop and tr...

From a plain logical perspective I agree with Mr Crow - each amp is designed circuitry wise to work with the given power section whatever it be. Maybe that's why changing didn't yield that much difference philipnz? But I'd go something that natively hosts 34's...and sell me the Mesa for like $13. A...

You may be able to find a secondhand fender Hotrod deluxe for a smidge over a grand. I've seen them new for 1200. Good workingman's amps with nice clean tones. As for twins, depends on the amp. I'm not a huge fan of the later silverface/jansen made twins you tend to see secondhand on the local marke...

It sounds like you're a metal kind of guy, so maybe emgs will suit you best. the thing with emgs is they seem to work in one of two circumstances: 1. if the guitar has a really nice intrinsic tone. for example, I've played loads of emg loaded strats (they were something of an 80s cliche) that sounde...

Modding single cable pickups to be splittable is indeed a tricky endeavour, but it can be done. Warren, who does repairs for AK city musicworks, converted my PRS' duncan 59s for coil splitting. I recommend him if you need it done.

Hi guys, new here. unis are really nice amps. I prefer the Uni I tried over the Bivalve, though my choice of the THD litter would be the flexi, which has more to do with my lack of an el34 amp than anything else. I had a long chat to Andy Marshall when he came down recently, and he was a really nice...
