Re: Ideas needed - buying a guitar in Chicago, approx US$2000 budget
Interesting. I didn't know about the sales tax - that plus the exchange rate adds up pretty bad! I wonder if I should leave guitar shopping to Hong Kong in September. Or alternatively see if there's something on eBay I can buy and have shipped to the hotel. One of the smaller mom and pop places I w...

They're a lot less strange in terms of sound and feel than you'd expect. I was surprised how normal the first Trussart I played was.Kiwiaxe wrote:I must say, I did see that and it piqued my curiosity but the idea of a steel body guitar seems uh kinda strange?

For Suhrs Maken'music is the spot to hit. If CME has some they've been harvested off reverb.com. Guitar Center -there's about eight of them, I went to one. They didn't have much of anything that CME didn't have, including Musicmans. It was cool for me because they had a nice light 335 I picked up (C...

Re: Reverend Double Agent - Post honeymoon review
Seriously, if I was still playing at that church set up, I think it'd still be pretty much unuseable without a noise-gate. Playing at home or at the shop, you don't hear any noise at all. At my gig on Saturday night under lights it was pretty noisy but useable, but that church set up I used to play...

Glad you like it. Great guitars, and the new tweaks make then more comfy and zippy to play.

Re: NAD - 5E3
yeah theres a lot of flexibility in those controls though, dimed out at 12 is not the loudest either, try backing them back off a touch, and the tone ;) Have a look for that video I posted a couple of weeks ago, shows you how to get some awesome tones out of it with combinations of the vols and ton...

How can a headstock look cheap? hs.jpeg Nah. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/Hot_grits/FullSizeRender%201.jpg BTW I don't mind the Suhr headstock. Mostly because it's a whisper away from: http://www.rockstarsguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Eddie-Van-Halen%E2%80%99s-Kramer-Neck.jpg

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Nice, bro! Are you using the Echorec in single mode? I actually find half of the patterns totally useless - some of them are almost reverb-y because the inbetween delays are very faint and very quick unless you max the delay time. I have ended up on the single head mode and just enjoying the overal...

Re: Show us your pedalboard
This is a lovely board. How's the Jap Girl Wah? sound good? I've been contemplating that for a while but apparently the smaller footprint doesn't really make much difference because you still need to use all of your foot? It's an optical wah, so the feel is quite different than a regular wah, with ...

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Here's the latest, including an Echorec from Ryan at ampshop. The Blue is also new. Underside has been completely revamped as well: Gigrig Generator, Distributor, 2x Isolator and Evenflo. Really nice stuff, easy to set up and overall much lighter than a standard pedalboard power brick. The first tim...

Re: Best amp day of my life
Cool to hear that Rockshop is getting some genuinely good amps in. Nice work, Matt! -between these and Reverend/Trussart you're definitely working to de-meh my visits when I'm in town. The Dirty Shirley is an absolute cracker of an amp -I hear it more as a JMP than a JTM, though, mostly due to the t...

I still have my Flatroc from the first bunch in. Still a great guitar.

Re: To sell or not to sell?
I'd definitely try some tron style pickups in the Robin. Cheapish way to know once and for all how far that guitar can go for you.
