Re: lower output p90

One thing I am pretty convinced on is pot taper. I recon the old CentraLab C2/10% taper is pretty important. At half way a 500k C2 will measure about 50k. They give you a lot of clean below 6ish. Lot of modern pots are 30%+/- taper - a lot of the "vintage correct" pots are 15-30% too - th...

Edit: I just remembered it has an aftermarket Tyson pickup, so maybe that is the issue. I was thinking of standard Gibson P90's which are very good.

Re: Molestation: An Ethical Perspective.

Pots and wiring is reversible if you do it carefully, a re-fret is just maintenance, I would do it. I wouldn't route it out for a Flyod though.

P90's into a medium gain Marshall are fantastic. They can straddle the Jazz to Rock food groups.

Re: The Chris Buck Appreciation Society

Its not just guitar on YT that's getting boring, I watch a lot of motorcycle channels too and they are all becoming predictable, same old reviews and dumb-ass topics just to get clicks.

There are still a few genuinely skilled people out there actually sharing useful info and knowledge mind.

Re: Gibson Falcon amps

He makes some reasonable observations but he also bullshits quite a bit for the attention. PCB mounted pre-amp sockets are ok if they are high quality and mounted on a decently thick fibreglass board. That build looks fairly typical of Mesa and will probably hold up pretty well. Lot of $$$ though fo...

Re: (lost in) space echo - now with demo

Some FX loops, especially passive ones have a high signal output. Line level is generally considered to be about 1V rms ( more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_level), many pedals can take a higher input than that, but 47v is massive in signal terms and would overdrive the input buffer/circui...

Re: (lost in) space echo - now with demo

Does more volume increase impedance? No, level is not related to impedance, unless you are distorting the signal at that stage. Isn’t a guitar level like 100 ohms and line level, Keyboards etc, like 1000 ohms? No, guitars are high impedance devices, they like to see about 1 meg ohm You’d want a buff...
