Re: Changing a normally open FS to normally closed

The switch looks to be a DPST NO (normally open), so can't be rewired to NC (normally closed). You could find the same form switch in NC and replace those (They'll be somewhere in these 13,600 options ) but probably easier to get DPDT momentary foot switches, like these. to replace the pcb ones. One...

Re: Pedals Of Epicness

I feel like I need to build one of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-R1Cr_tjvY I made a dual expression control version, one side controls a SA Ventris delay, the other a boss MD500. Might upsize to a triple version to control reverb too :D IMG_20230903_155031.jpg IMG_20230903_144714.jpg I c...

Re: Momentary footswitches

Hi guys, gonna build an arduino controlled switcher for the katana and want 4 momentary footswitches to change the channels, wheres the best place to get them from? Do you need any long press functions? Could you deal with a double tap instead? I'd use latching switches, they have the nice positive...

Re: Calculating Parallel resistances for dummy's (me)

selecting 2 different resistors, one so the pickup sees approx 250k and another so it sees less, maybe 150k for a darker tone. There are lots of online tools that'll do math for you, WolframAlpha is great: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=R+%3D1%2F((1%2Fr)%2B(1%2Fp)),+R%3D150,+p%3D500 R is the ...

Re: Neck Issue

The eyecrometer is not a tool to be relied on. Use a real measurement tool - feeler gauges are cheap as chips.

No neck is perfectly straight, a twist is only a problem if you have symptoms.

Re: Anyone used the site guitarsrock.co.nz?

Sorry but I don't get this. How is it 'unethical' to sell something at the recommend retail or whatever? It's not, that's not my concern. You say you'd go out of business if everything was sold at 'the cheapest we can possibly do it for' so if it's unsustainable then how can you sell anything at th...

Re: Anyone used the site guitarsrock.co.nz?

Offering to price match is like an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. As much as we all appreciate it, you're probably losing a pretty high % of potential customers by simply having a higher ticket price. There will be a lot of people who either don't know or don't want to ask. Just an observati...

Cheers
You'll need $5k for a Tektronix scope, at least $500 for a fluke, and another $1k for a snapon set to properly respect your fasteners.
They're all great quality, they'll pay for themselves in just a few generations

Re: multi meter reccomendations

Buying a fluke just to bias one amp is ridiculous, my 20 dollar DMM takes identical readings to my 15b, except the fluke can't test trannies so arguably had less value to a hobbyist.
The cheapest DMM you can find will do the job fine, even a $10 DSE special.

I bought a 2nd hand ryobi 3/4HP router off TM for $40 or so, it's still going strong 10 years later.

Re: No Suhrprise to anyone - but here it is!

This thread is astounding me. First it was " you can get a guitar as good as this Suhr for half the price " Now it's " me and my forum buddies know how to make better guitars than PRS " Speechless. I've never played one so wouldn't know :congrats: My point was that the manufactu...

Re: No Suhrprise to anyone - but here it is!

If there's any further doubt, watch this wee vid from the PRS factory: At 5.30. Look at the neck fit process. No Gibson shims needed here. To me that screams 'Our QC is abysmal so we have to make parts oversized then sand them to fit' :grump: Maybe if you were working with aluminium, one of my frie...

Re: Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch

I understand it as:

toggle off
standard tele 3 way: N, N+B, B

toggle on adds mid in series giving:
3 way: N*M, (N+B)*M, B*M

Re: Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch

a regular DPDT switch can do the job, I did a (vaguely) similar setup in a 3 x P90 guitar based on the Troy Van leeuwen Yamaha. If we number the terminals like so: 1 2 3 4 5 6 connect 1 to the 3 way switch output and a jumper to 6 connect 2 to the middle pup hot connect 3 to the middle pup ground co...
