Gig tonight
Doing a FB live tonight at 7.00. Just me and my gat. Check it out.
I'm setting up outside so the neighbours can hear too.
For those who are interested, my equipment chain is:
Gat and vox ---> PA ---> speakers

Re: The Studio Project
It's a rescue Mac, a hand-me-down, and I've never used one before. I wasn't particularly impressed. Until... I plugged the QU16 in, waited for the driver search and the subsequent 3 hour wrestling match to get the 16, Reaper, and Windows to play well together, but no, nothing. Nada. Instead it's all...

Re: The Studio Project
It's the united nations of wood here: Totara, Kauri, Macrocarpa, Radiata, Cedar, and Oregon. I've got some Rimu and Oak in line to find a new home too.

Re: The Studio Project
More progress. The 12'' CVs sound better than the 15s in here. I'll relegate the 15s to outdoor duty, as required.

Re: The Studio Project
What're the plans for acoustic treatment? I'm down that rabbit hole currently. I’ve made it airtight, to keep low volume stuff contained, if it’s loud it’ll get out but that’s ok. With the blinds down it should be reasonably bounce free. It’s lined with rough-sawn timber, (boxing actually) with a r...

Re: The Studio Project
Landscape grade Totara. In the 60s they clear-felled huge Totara forests and planted pine, left the Totara laying there. Now that the pine is maturing they're getting the logs out. What looks like worm holes is actually a disease that only affects the tree when it is alive. Heart Totara is naturally...

Re: The Studio Project
Some progress. Got the power on, perfectly habitable, and it actually sounds great inside. I've got some heavy industrial carpet tiles to go down on the concrete floor, and some born again roman blinds for the windows. I'm thinking these things will kill most of the remaining bouce, which may not be...

Re: The Studio Project
Some progress. It's basically almost a swamp there, but when I was rebuilding my basement earlier this year I piled the leftover concrete from the pours there, it's a big thick layer of conrete just basking in the mud, and it ain't going anywhere. I've been working out how to incorporate some of the...

The Studio Project
I decided 4 sheds weren't enough so I've been planning a new one, one that's dry and warm and reasonably soundproof, and I'm about to turn the first sod tomorrow, lay the concrete floor actually, with some surplus concrete that will miraculously appear. I have some recycled corrugated iron, a repurp...
