Re: Interesting Song Structures
I just learned Vultures by John Mayer and played bass on it for two gigs on the weekend. I find the song really challenging to my ear. The bass line is doing F#(m) A B , and the guitar riff is E major based. It does work, but when you start it sounds like you're playing in different keys (to me). Bu...

Re: Interesting Song Structures
Not sure I'd use the word interesting, but I've just realised some Bob Marley songs have structures that feel unnatural to me. Been a long time since I played songs that catch me out regularly with an unexpected change. I feel like I have a mental block for 'Could you be loved"

Re: Digitech Hardwire RV-7 has a weird knob
You could think outside the box and rewire your brain instead. Convince yourself that a plate reverb actually sounds like a reverse and so on.
This method would be effective as long as you never plan on using a different reverb ever. Let me know if you want any more practical tips.

Re: Bassists - Great Tone
Also Dan Roberts from Crash Test Dummies. God Shuffled His Feet has beautiful lines, but I can't any info on his equipment. On this clip of Mmmm you can see his bass at about 2:19 - Warwick? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkxlAIcq54E Look like really fat strings, but that might be just an illusion...

Re: Whats on your amp workbench?
Amps with PCBs can GTFOML, Especially the ones with double sided PCB tracks. Bet you AI won't be able to repair these. Although it might help diagnose the fault. To the landfill with them I say  AI will analyse the circuit and figure out a way better way to produce it and then a robot and pro...

Re: Bassists - Great Tone
A little bit tangential, but I played for a while in a U2 tribute, and learning the songs it was surprising how often their bass mix/tone is pretty average. A few standouts like Bullet the Blue Sky, and With or Without You etc, but quite often struggled to pick out lines in other U2 songs. Not to me...

I think the technical description is: one 9v input, into a little magical barrel, one 18v output.

Re: Cover band guitarist wanted (Oamaru based)
On a guitar forum you have to trick us into actual playing. Start a thread saying "do you think rosewood or maple fretboard sound better?", and then invite the most vocal local to bring their gear to your practice venue to settle the argument. From there it's just peer pressure to stay and...

Re: Leather ….
My Greenstone of Doom is covered in leather. Looks awesome, but is a lot more susceptible to damage than tolex, one of my old cats thought it would make a great scratch post, I suspect it wouldn't have shown up anywhere near as much on tolex (if at all). So do you have something covered in catskin ...
