Re: Leather ….

My Greenstone of Doom is covered in leather. Looks awesome, but is a lot more susceptible to damage than tolex, one of my old cats thought it would make a great scratch post, I suspect it wouldn't have shown up anywhere near as much on tolex (if at all). So do you have something covered in catskin ...

Re: Leather ….

That would be an interesting project. Be interesting to see what some of the others who have done tolex work think.

Re: Mixing & Panning

I learned a good trick from a clip by a guy who gets a huge sound for his solo acoustic stuff. He records his guitar with two different mikes, and pans them left and right, but then he feeds each one to a reverb that is panned to the opposite side. Not sure whether it’s as noticeable in a band mix,...

Hard to get past the origin snobbery. I wonder what resale would be like.
Is that Marty F’s recently acquired one?
No this one was in a shop.

Re: BASS: oh, cliche topic - what picks do you use!

I’ve just started playing bass again and I’m trying to use fingers. So hard to get a consistent tone with different length fingers!! I see lots of practice needed. Thats why many use a compressor Yep I have a few of them, but hopefully I can improve technique as there is a tone difference as well a...

Re: Strat Help

I'm thinking about buying a Strat, my budget is more Mexican than USA and I tend towards the traditional specs. I saw this MIJ on the Tard and I quite like it. Seems like a good price and has a hard case too. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/music-instruments/instruments/guitar-bass/electric...

Re: Marshall lead 20 (has anyone owned one before?)

I had a Lead12 and preferred it clean, so never noticed the taper of the gain knob. Great amp, I imagine the Lead20
would be cool too.

Re: Nuts of steel (what do you run your strings over?)

I really like the zero fret idea which is different again, I like the idea of open and fretted notes not sounding so different. Don't own a guitar with on but I want to.

Re: Detune pedal?

Some chord progressions and riffs do not retain their character when transposed to another key. Likewise many fingerpicked passages do not change key and remain playable; not for folks with skills less than Danny Gatton. I definitely get that. I had to transpose about 60% of the Moe Show songs for ...
