Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

UAFX Ruby! I’m really looking forward to moving into a direct rig at lower volume for as many of my gigs as is practical. Also have had my Herdim Picks delivered recently, and an eBow, and really feeling fired up to get some tribute shows happening Wow, are you going to be the edge? haha yes I am. ...

Re: Show us your pedalboard

With the supro pushed a little the bad monkey gives enough gain for most things. Can definitely get past AC/DC territory. Not sure about Metallica to be fair, but I did get a bit of chug chug going on a couple songs. I hope for the humour they were Wagon Wheel and April Sun in Cuba! Nah, my normal ...

IMG_4320.jpeg I think I have everything I need here. Pub gig tonight. No call for the dd5 yet, but you never know… Um, where’s the high gain? You can’t play that one Metallica song you need at the pub with a bad monkey! With the supro pushed a little the bad monkey gives enough gain for most things...

hercules wrote: Tue Apr 09, 2024 10:03 pm Thanks for the kind words! What the gear hounds and aficionados won't tell you is that 90% of the Tool bass sound is just smacking the absolute living shit out of the strings.

The other 10% is hideously expensive.
This is a great cover. What a hard band to do a tribute show to!

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

New (to me) bass being picked up today.... Mexi Jazz five string. I won't see it for a couple weeks, as it's being picked up by someone their way to Wellington, brought back when they return. Because cash converters in palmy wouldn't ship - and pack and send would have been $cary I think. IMG_4210.j...

Re: Do you remove the trem cover on your Strat?

I need an option that says “I leave it on until the first time I need to take it off, then I never put it back on again - no reason”

Re: Tube amp techs in Auckland?

This is a solid state amp, right? Might narrow the Auckland field a bit since some amp techs prefer to stick to valve/tube stuff. If you get stuck and can’t find anyone I might be able to walk you through a few tests you can do yourself. Might end up being something you can handle on your own with ...

Maybe email these guys as they're the importer in NZ: https://musicbiz.co.nz/ Nah it’s quite old, I’m sure it wouldn’t be worth going to the importer. You could try reading this list! https://www.nzguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=41696 Thanks, but all the Auckland listed are guitar repai...

Re: Tube amp techs in Auckland?

Reviving an old thread with a new question. I gave my Gallien Kruger bass amp to my son in Auckland, and it’s developed a fault. Who would you guys recommend for taking something like that to? He’s in Three Kings/Mt Roskill. Thanks Maybe email these guys as they're the importer in NZ: https://music...

Re: VHNGD - '72 Strat

An early guitar influence of mine was a teacher who played a Strat like this into a JC120 and a single distortion pedal (maybe Boss HM2) - I thought it was amazing.

Re: Bass effects!

I'm wanting a good envelope filter. I've been researching and there seems to be quite a difference between what they do. I would like one that sounds funky - the 'pop/quack' sound, but not lose all the bottom end. I would appreciate opinion from my learned forumites. What are you guys using and why...
