Re: NGD: MIJ Jazzmaster

Spent some more time with it and I think I'd like a bit more output and mids from the bridge pickup but without going into P90 ballpark. What's good in that aspect? Lollar? Novak JM-Fat?

Re: NGD: MIJ Jazzmaster

Pretty sure these heritage models have much better pickups than you used to get in MIJ Jazzmasters. Proper wide, flat Jazzmaster pickups and not just Strat pickups under a Jazzmaster cover. Worth living with for a bit and not immediately binning, which used to be the standard advice. The Inoran sig...

Re: NGD: MIJ Jazzmaster

These newer MIJs have a little neck pocket angle, which tends to fix the sometimes-issue of lighter strings jumping out of the saddles. That might explain why I haven't run into any issue... yet. Other things you might consider are upgrading the vibrato spring from the stock japanese one. You can g...

Re: Advice wanted: Gibson r8

I think it depends on the year since the retail price on these kept going up especially since 2013. But I wouldn't pay current price on an older one for sure.

NGD: MIJ Jazzmaster

Went to Tokyo for a few days and wanted to get a MIJ Jazzmaster. I like the JM shape but I haven't had a "real" one yet. There were a few humbucker models (Modern/Elemental) that looked good online but were mostly out of stock in shops. The final contenders were this Heritage 60's VS an In...

Tubescreamers.

But for some weird reason I like Klones for high gain boost.

Ykes! I don't think the paint on a 2017 guitar should look like this. Almost looks like the timber was still wet when they painted it! Check out the back of the neck and headstock. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/music-instruments/instruments/guitar-bass/electric-guitars/listing/4095901102?...

Re: The NZG MTS Thread

Lol you can get an used 6505 amp at the price of the module. Also it’s probably just a few values apart from the SLO module. Their most redundant release so far.

I ended up getting new baseplates for them so now they're on!

Both are older ones, a 2010 and a 1993. I had depth mod done on a HR50+ I had, and ended up turning it all the way down anyway since I tune low lol.

I’ve installed the Gotoh locking tuners. Also swapped the bridge pickup to a T Top which was originally from my ‘79 Silverburst.

Reckon this is an aggressive interpretation of "light ageing", or was it dropped on it's face after birth? My guess is the latter. https://wildwestguitars.com/electric/gibson-custom-shop-1959-les-paul-standard-murphy-lab-light-aged-royal-tea-burst Early run of Murphy Lab had some issues w...
