Re: Ruby Baby (Donald Fagen's "The Nightfly" Arrangement) - Complete Cover
Well done Joe, singing sounds good too. Did you do the bass part as well? Cheers, mate. I can play the bass line, and as much as I'd like to say I did, no, I did it on the computer. I found a really good bass patch that sounded close enough to a real bass that I just used it instead. here is a tran...

Ruby Baby (Donald Fagen's "The Nightfly" Arrangement) - Complete Cover
Well, after many hours of making the backing track, recording vocals (each part triple-tracked), and mixing, it's done. This was a lot of work, fun, but a lot of work. I'm not a natural singer, so I'm not ashamed to say I put in a lot of effort on the vocals (and my voice started to give-up by the 3...

Re: Cover of Larry Carlton's "Last Nite"
Awesome man. Cheers, mate. :) Nice playing Joe, what pedal is kicking in at about 1:30? Mr 335 actually plays it on a strat :D Thanks, man. Yeah, he was using his Valley Arts Strat a lot during the mid-late 80s, kind of ironic for Mr. 335, but I've seen videos of him playing it on his 335 and a Les...

Cover of Larry Carlton's "Last Nite"
Hey dudes and dudettes, I thought I'd share a little tribute I made to Mr. 335 using my Epi Dot fitted with a pair of DiMarzio DP 103 36ths and my Mesa Mini Rec. My own arrangement and backing track.

Re: Lunchbox v 'Full-Size' Amps
If I needed low-end thump and gobs of headroom I'd go back to the Boogie Mark I I was using 30 years ago - or a Plexi - but for what I'm doing now, the Mini Rec more than gets the job done mic'd or not. I hardly ever play pristine, virginal cleans, so headroom isn't an issue. I play in a non-metal p...

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Nice one! Are you running some of those in the loop? seems like a lot of cables in and out :) Thanks, JB. Yeah, the wah and the two ODs go up front; the Mesa pedal is the amp's footswitch; and the EQ, chorus, and delay go to the loop. Since I have all the cables snaked, I just unplug the send and r...

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Latest version of my gig board. I sold the Organizer and got the Lotus Drive which is a very nice D-amp style OD that's a nice, similar yet different alternative to my Mesa's OD.

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Or perhaps it sounds better with a cranked amp? So not a function of volume but more that it pairs better with the tone of a cranked amp. But a cranked amp is a function of volume, so wouldn't that make the tone of a cranked amp also a function of volume? Mathematically, this is expressed by the To...

Re: Power Pins
Usually the hardest part of restringing an acoustic, no matter how many times you've done it, is finding a good way to pull those damn bridge pins out without destroying them. All too often players resort to grabbing the nearest set of pliers or even worse, a set of keys or a screwdriver to pry it ...

That sounds like a great pedal. And just when I thought I'd cured my GAS I see this...damn you! Replacement for the Organizer? Nah, mate, I just ordered a Wilson Lotus drive as the replacement for the Organizer. I yammered on briefly about it in the "what's in the mail" thread. I'll...
