Re: Amp Damaged?
Thanks guys. I did check my leads even though they're fairly new (< 6months old), fairly decent Planet Waves, and I don't trash them. Usually wiggling them will get something intermittent like that to rear its ugly head. I'll see what happens at rehearsal tomorrow. That said, who is Ryan? Does he ha...

Truth or fiction? Nice set-up, BTW. I'm jealous that you have horns in you...

Re: What are you gassing for?
Well, I suffer from both short term and long term GAS. To satisfy the former, this will probably by mine in about a month - http://www.quinnamps.com/pizap.com13489389577331.jpg It's a very nice overdrive that gets into that Dumble ODS territory as well as this, my long term GAS affliction - http://w...

Amp Damaged?
Lately I've found that I really like my Mesa Mini Rec on the "clean" setting with the master dimed and the gain at maybe 4 o'clock; IOW, not quite dimed. The other day - it was hot that day - at rehearsal I noticed the amp had developed a loud buzzing sound with very little guitar sound co...

Re: Amp overdrive VS. Pedal overdrive
I'm one of those guys that has a sound I hear in my head; the "yeah, that's me" sound. So, one of the selling points for the Mini Rec for me was the OD, specifically the "vintage" setting on the red channel. It's very reminiscent of the Mark I. The clean setting with the gain and...

Re: Great guitar tones from unexpected sources
OK, here's one from right smack dab in the middle of the 80s that I doubt too many people remember if they've even heard it at all. I was in uni, and I remember hearing it on the radio thinking that the guitars - both the clean chicken-pickin' bit and the OD rhythm guitar - were just great rock tone...

Re: The Newb's Rig
Thanks for the kind words, guys. It's refreshing since I encounter a lot of Mesa hate and hate from the purists ("ugh, it's not a real 335...") on some other forums. Conway - the TA is a fantastic amp, and I bet that Thiele cabinet is a real winner, too. Tonemaker - The Fromel is like the ...

Sexy Natural Blonde Bedroom Shots
Kia ora! Here's my girl, an Epi Dot. Really a sweet axe at any price. I'd love to have a 335, but I just can't justify the price of one. I've played a lot of them over the years, and they were all sweet, some nicer than others. I just don't think that they're 4 times the guitar this one is at 1/4 th...

Re: The Newb's Rig
Thanks, mate. I really love the sounds I get from this set-up. We play sort of a mix of classic rock, blues, fusion, and funk/R&B/soul. All the tone bases are covered.

Re: Show us your amp
The Mesa Mini Rec. This thing is awesome and should not be assumed as just a smaller version of the larger Rectos. This thing has its own voices, only one of which, the "modern" setting on the red channel, resembles a larger Recto. This thing sounds fantastic with the clean setting dimed, ...

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Kia Ora. Here's my board. Fairly minimalist, but it does what I need it to do. It's the NYC Six Shot, built like a tank. With the removable lid it doubles as a gear bag; carries all my cables, surge protector, and wall wart for the One Spot power supply. The daisy chain is under the floorboard to ke...

The Newb's Rig
Hey all, here's my rig, the whole enchilada. I'm quite happy with this set-up. I play in a rock/blues/fusion/funk power trio, and this serves me well. Super cleans and different levels of OD that's always round and open, never compressed or satuarated; it's not what you may expect. I'll be adding an...
