Re: Guess the amp vs digital

I thought it was commonly accepted at this point that tone and feel etc. are in the ears of the beholder? It’s all subjective. Making bold statements like “can't be replicated in anything other than a valve” comes off as a bit ignorant really and just sounds like someone adding their own opinion in...

Re: Guess the amp vs digital

I would never pretend to be able to tell the difference in sound between a valve amp and a digital modeller, especially in a recording. The difference, imo, isn't really in the sound , but in the feel , particularly in how a valve amp responds dynamically to attack on the strings, and that is going ...

Is that the low(er)-gain one you had at the last Tronfest? It seemed to really get on well with my Dot. Me likey mucho!

Re: Who Has Valves in NZ?

I just spoke to Ryan, and after a few minutes on the phone he's got me sorted. I'm getting a 12AY7 and the ECC83MG to see what suits me best. Thanks, for the feedback gents, and thank you, Ryan.

Who Has Valves in NZ?

I'm looking at purchasing a 5751 preamp valve/tube to swap in VI on my Mesa to see if I can mellow out the OD just a tad. I've done some research and found a few suppliers in NZ but none seem to have any 5751s. I can order one from one of the overseas suppliers no problem, but I'd like to support an...

I think it's the same, eh? They just spell it differently in Canadia. Take off, eh? And thanks, the new gat is sweet as.

All was good until it fell over in its soft case during my layover in grammy award winners and 70's throwback band - "grammy award winners and 70's throwback band - "grammy award winners and 70's throwback band - Chicago!"!". Nice edit, mods. I was reading my OP and just noticed...

NGD (well, 2 weeks ago). Canada Makes a Nice Guitar, eh?

So I went back to the States for a few weeks last month, figured I'd take my cheap-yet-oh-so-beloved Ashton acoustic. All was good until it fell over in its soft case during my layover in Chicago. Headstock broke clean off the neck, my mellow severely harshed. Fast forward to my return trip where I ...

Re: Backing Tracks: how do I get them please?

If you're just looking to lay vocal tracks over the top and not play any instrumental parts you might want to try: http://www.karaoke-version.com/ I'll second that. But it's great for doing instrumental stuff too because you can download each track individually (for the same, one-time purchase), ru...

Sweet! The first thing I noticed is the pickup height - they're really high. Unless you like the way they sound like that, maybe lower them a bit, especially the neck. I'd put it down so the top of the pup is flush with the pup ring and adjust up from there if that's not to your liking. Yes. I've l...
