Re: The Acoustic Thread
This just popped up moments ago. Looks interesting, will watch later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrtI8B2Y0AM Thanks, now I need a separate pedal board for my acoustic. :moresarc: (Actually, I've thought that for a while, but I now know for sure :D) Damn, this forum creates too much gas.

Re: NGD: Gibson CS R6 Goldtop heavy aged
As a poor man's version (and something entirely more suited to Slowy), I anguished over this. My dilemma is I'm no longer in a band so I don't play much electric. But give me a blank sheet of paper and this is pretty much exactly what I would have drawn. I have no doubt I will hate myself for letti...

Re: Late 70s Strats - thoughs?
Absolutely. The conversion here looks clean and professional. I was initially interested in going back to a standard six screw trem, but I might just get some stamped offset saddles and be done with it. If you are going to change it, I'd recommend getting a complete unit, with a decent steel block....

Re: Late 70s Strats - thoughs?
That was my thought, just I have never seen that happen before. From a bit of research, it looks like 78 / 79 bodies have shielding, and a notch cut out next to the cavity for the ground wire. My theory is that a batch of lefty bodies and necks were made in 77, and still sitting around through to 7...

Re: Late 70s Strats - thoughs?
I have a couple. Aesthetically they're both nicely aged with a lovely amber on the natural finish 79 and yellow, faded white on the 72. I can't argue with most of the preceding criticisms, but have come to recognize that all guitars have their own thing. If you like it the flaws don't matter. And t...

Re: Late 70s Strats - thoughs?
Just watch out for the grey ones with 'Anniversary' printed on the body. Horrible objects. The only good things I've heard said about them were from owners desperate to find a buyer. aniv.JPG Ah, see all that goopy finish damage along the upper bout? Mine had that also... I've never had that proble...

Re: Late 70s Strats - thoughs?
I bought one new in '79--my first proper electric guitar. Cost me 200 Quid I think. I sold it about 25 years ago whilst living in Australia and got a great price for it. I loved it at the time, but I would not want another one. It was not well made by today's standards, it was heavy, had thick poly ...

Re: Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?
Adrian Legg retunes in < 1 second without stopping the piece he is playing, the note slides are part of the composition. It would be challenging to build auto-tuning technology that quick and precise-- Legg isn't retuning as such, he is switching between a preset note (just like a D-tuner). He uses...

Re: Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?
Thats wild, I have seen tuners with a lever on them to drop tuning quickly! Yes, that's right. The D-tuna does that. I've thought about swapping out my tuners for some... I think I'd need all six of them: Bottom E to D A to G G to F# D to C B to A E to D buy a gibson e-tune - it can change to any t...

Re: Has anyone tried graphtech ratio tuners?
Have you heard Adrian Legg play? He has tuners that let him move between tunings at the flick of a wrist...which he does mid-song across multiple strings. I thought he used something like a D-tuna, but then I saw him live. He just turns his insanely high ratio tuners very quickly and very accuratel...
