Re: Spraying a burst (my first attempt)

Had my first attempt at spraying a burst today and although not perfect (couple of runs etc) the look is certainly what I had hoped for. I was going for a faded lemon/honey burst type look. Not a huge fan of red in bursts, I much prefer the faded 58 almost plain top look. Back when they used Anilin...

Re: Spraying a burst (my first attempt)

What it looked like 2 days ago, and after today’s effort.
Sapele body stained cherry red, mahogany neck and maple top.
Fretboard is a dark hard wood that I can’t remember the name of, trying to replicate ebony was the goal.

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX

Where can you order one? As a Tone X user I can see this being pretty useful to save some pedalboard realestate. Do you think you'd get rid of your other pedal, and just use this? I think so, just started watching some videos to see if there’s many limitations. Won’t sell the ToneX just yet but I c...

Re: True Tone CS7 repair

I’ve had my CS7 apart twice, first time it was dropping in and out on one of the 500mA outputs. Tech traced it to the cheap electrolytic caps, we replaced a few and it sorted the issue for around 2 years until recently I was getting a bunch of noise from it which was getting progressively worse. ope...

Re: Gear Quests!

I’m still holding out hope for all this talk about big tube amps being obsolete and worthless shortly! Current prices don’t seem to match the online predictions chatter though! I dunno, Vox amps look to be largely unsellable these days. I would agree large combos don’t have much appeal, but 100watt...

Re: Gear Quests!

One of my favourite purchases was my 2550 Marshall head. I was in Nelson for New years eve around 2003, popped into Cash Converters and they had a Marshall 2550 head and JCM800 4x12 for $1000, offered them $900 for the head and cab, then had to figure out how to fit it in the boot of my 1986 Honda ...

Re: Live & Incubus

I went in CHCH, it was a good night out! I was impressed with the subtle but tight playing of the Live lead player, his tone was great too! Could have been the venue but the Incubus guitarists tone was piecing at times and I didn’t love it, great sets from both though. Live was better than I anticip...

Re: Mr Glyn cool 90 demo

For what’s its worth Glyn was very happy with the clip and it’s now on his website. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to demo some more of his pickups. I genuinely think he makes a great product. The p90 now makes that LP a very pleasant guitar for me. Everyone plays different so it’s likely a good idea ...

Re: Mr Glyn cool 90 demo

Great video! I think it shows the pickup well. I would agree chords are helpful when trying to actually get a gauge on how it sounds, everyone plucks the strings slightly differently but chords seem to even the playing field somewhat.although I’m a hypocrite and don’t always follow my own advise. Ch...
