Re: Tremolux speaker shootout

Great video! Although I’m not sure I can offer a vote on one specific speaker. You’re right in saying the differences are greater when you add overdrive, cleans are reasonably similar but I’m sure they would have been further apart in the room. Surprised at how the midrange is so different on some o...

Re: Brownface content.

fabulous! I have a friend with a Blackface Pro, it's a fantastic amp, huge warm tone and great reverb. I had a Silverface Pro reverb for a while which was nice but sounded pretty different to this. I briefly owned a Paul WD built Pro amp circuit (original 50s version I think) which sounded actually...

Brownface content.

A friend who owns a studio in Lyttelton dropped this off for me to try for a few months. Not upset about it tbh!! I’m no expect on the brown face era stuff but I do know the harmonic trem wasn’t used after this series which is really warm and certainly has a different vibe to the black face trem. On...

Re: Cab building tips?

My advise is copy someone else’s proven dimensions, going over size in my experience isn’t always best. The last 2x12 I built was oversized but it was too bloated. Not much attack, I ended up cutting it down in size and went from closed back, to half open to eventually cutting an oval shaped hole in...

Re: Les Paul Refinish Advice Please

Damn that looks tasty Reg!! Once I figure out the swirl marks issue I’ll do some proper pics and post in my other thread. I just had to put it together to see how it sounded though! I’d be buffing the swirls out if they’re not too deep I think one of the cutting compounds was the problem, I’ll go b...

Re: Les Paul Refinish Advice Please

Post spray, start sanding with say 800 grit until it's smooth. Then I go up to 1200 and then 2000. Then I go to 3000 and then 5000. Each sand is easier than the last. Finally, use car polish. The result is a flawless finish. Use wet and dry paper up to 2000, then at Wairau Paint buy two pads for sa...

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX

I have. You can adjust them but not in detail - just like the knobs on the main unit (ie overall level) I wondered that, so on the original unit you can deep dive in the menu and adjust the type of reverb from Plate, spring etc and adjust the length of decay and other things. Seems as though the sm...

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX

Has anyone else got the ToneX one yet?
Am I right in thinking you can’t adjust the parameters of the compressor and the reverb like on the bigger unit? It’s just a level control for each? I’ve skimmed the manual and I don’t see anything about it in the global menu settings.

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX

where did you buy them from? Sweetwater, I rang around NZ dealers but they weren’t even sure if they were going to order any in as the first version Tonex didn’t sell very well. Apparently direct imports brought in 10 original Tone x’s into NZ and only 6 have sold so far. That’s the NZ market for y...

My 2 x TONEX ones turned up yesterday, currently trying to figure out my favourite captures and how to best run a stereo rig. So far so good! It’s awesome! where did you buy them from? Mr Bungle wrote: Tue May 07, 2024 12:33 pm You'd be very happy with that as a first attempt. I imagine it's a damn difficult thing to do.
Honestly probably couldn’t replicate it exactly, was a bit of trial and error which happened to work out I think.
