Re: Kenny Duncan experience. Not very happy with mine.
Kenny does seem to be a bit hit or miss. As I said in the other thread, I've had two mates have really good work done by him on multiple guitars and a bass. But I always go to Weta when I need something done which I can't do myself. I think he just gets overwhelmed, he is the first to tell you he's...

Re: Kenny Duncan experience. Not very happy with mine.
I think there is quite a few people missing the point of this thread. This thread is about letting people know about the bad service I got from Kenny Duncan, not about my lack of knowledge about what the rock shop would have done for me if I had taken the guitar back to them. The guitar needed a res...

Re: Kenny Duncan experience. Not very happy with mine.
Gibson LP Trads are supposed to come out of the factory plekked and setup perfect fret wise. If there was a problem I would of gone straight back to the Rockshop before you had external work done on it. I'm only taking Kenny Duncans word that the fret board needed leveled. I have spoke to a few peo...

Re: Kenny Duncan experience. Not very happy with mine.
Yea maybe I should had taken it back to the rock shop, but the fret buzz wasn't that bad, I just wanted it to be perfect cause it was a $3000 guitar. Certainly the guitar sounded way worse when Kenny had supposedly fixed it, but its good now. Its all done and dusted now I will chalk it up to a bad e...

Kenny Duncan experience. Not very happy with mine.
I'm a newbie to electric guitars, and I got my first one about 8 weeks ago. I was very happy to get a Gibson Les Paul Traditional, new from the rock shop in Wellington. I was getting a bit of fret buzz which was a little annoying so I asked people on this forum with guitar techs would they recommend...

Re: Luthiers in Wellington for setup/repairs?
I guess his bed must make it possible to get out on all sorts of sides? ;) In my experience with him, he likes the money. He look's so stressed whenever I go in, and he can't get you out the door fast enough, I think he takes on way too much work for his 30 hour week. He should up his hours, or tur...

Re: Luthiers in Wellington for setup/repairs?
I find Kenny Duncan Quite rude at times, and very quick to get you out of his shop when your dropping your guitar off, talks to you a bit more when you are paying him though, which kinda shows you what he is all about. Which is a contradiction on what he says on his video on his homepage on his webs...

Re: Anyone know someone who can file frets down and set up?
Yes, they cant guarantee any specific time or date as they are so busy. Which makes no sense to me. I won't say the persons name as I might just have to use him. I've heard Kenny Duncan is really good, but I know he has waiting lists too and he is in the middle of Wellington, which I would prefer to...

Re: Anyone know someone who can file frets down and set up?
I find that really annoying, and to me that does come down to time management. There is no reason whatsoever you cant get a day for the repair, or setup, or whatever then pick it up on that day, that's how most business is conducted most of the time. The people who are doing this for a living know ho...

Re: Anyone know someone who can file frets down and set up?
Yea I'm not really expecting the fret work to be done while I wait, but it would be nice to be given a day for the work to be done, then take it in that morning and pick it up just before closing time.
I think that's fair enough, surely.

Anyone know someone who can file frets down and set up?
Can anyone tell me someone who can do a good job filing my frets, i have some slight buzzing on the top strings? In the Lower hutt, Upper hutt, Wellington region. I've heard of Kenny Duncan, but would rather not go into the city and he has a waiting list of about 4 days. would like it done a bit qui...
