Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

I now have an Orange Rockerverb 50 mk2 coming from auckland, and an Orange PPC212OB cab from the rockshop coming my way. I'm so excited! I wish I had enough spare cash floating around to run through some of the amazing amps you guys get, but this is definitely a massive step in the right direction ...

Re: What are you gassing for?

I just want you all to know that I've bought an Orange Rockerverb 50 mk2 head off trade me, and I blame/thank you all for making it happen! (Along with my bandmates who wouldn't stop badgering me to chase one up...) The next step is whether I hold onto my AC30 for stereo fun or pass it off and use t...

Re: 12AX7 Question

Oh, I didn't realise that only power tubes are arranged in a fashion requiring manual biasing :) I learnt something today too! Haha

Re: 12AX7 Question

Oh, I think i know what they're talking about. Normally if your amp isn't cathode bias, you have to adjust the valve bias when you put different valves in, because of their different tolerances. Mesa Boogie chose to not allow biasing, and tell you to only purchase their tubes, which they source with...

Re: 12AX7 Question

Yep, a 12ax7 is a dual triode tube, essentially meaning it acts like two individual valve switches sharing a physical container. Each side can be used in different parts of the circuit, as described above, where one side of the first tube is on the input before the signal is sent two each channel, a...

Re: What are you gassing for?

On saturday I was in a studio recording, and noticed a Orange Rockerverb 50 head and 2x12 sitting in the corner. I got a chance to have a play on it, and suffice to say not only did I end up recording all my parts on it, my crazy Rockerverb GAS has totally returned.... Damnit, I thought i was over ...

Re: Amp Dilemma

My friend has a Blackstar HT40 combo that he's never had out of his house and he's considering selling. I think he paid around $1000 for it originally, so he'd probably sell for somewhere around there if that interests you?

Re: Expression pedal splitter

Alright, slight change of plans. For some reason I didn't think about the fact that the digital pot would be limited by the supplied voltage (meaning i'd have to bias the guitar signal and then you get noise from the voltage divide changing the bias point as you change the pedal position) so I'm loo...

Re: Expression pedal splitter

Interesting about the audio circuits and digital pots thing, i might have to look into that a bit more. Either way, if I only use it for expression inputs that's fine :) The nano is still programmable through a mini-usb connector luckily. I am planning to solder directly to the through holes rather ...

Re: Expression pedal splitter

Just ordered 10 Stereo jack sockets from a chinese seller on ebay for about $6. I would have liked to use switchcraft sockets, but they're above $5 EACH :S Next step is the 6-channel digital potentiometer. I'll be using an AD5206BN10 chip. This chip includes 6 individual digital 10k pots, with 8-bit...

Re: Expression pedal splitter

Actually JB, I bet you using digital pots is how you had presets on your fuzz factory clone! If this goes well, I might consider doing rehousing+preset mods for analogue pedals...

Re: Expression pedal splitter

Yeah, i know what you're talking about :) This will be the same as connecting an expression pedal up to an expression input basically, except you can connect one expression pedal up to 4 pedal expression inputs instead! Should make my setup easier to control, and also more compact :)
