Re: Marantz PM-64 Mkii - troubleshooting
Thanks I’ll give it a bash. Hopefully nothing too major, be a waste of what used to be a great class A/B amp

Marantz PM-64 Mkii - troubleshooting
I dug this out of my pile of boxes from the mid-2000s not long ago, with the intention of pairing it with some speakers I acquired from Oleg. I recall it being fine going into the box (OK, that may have been before John Key was PM, but hey...). Have an issue with the left channel on both sets of spe...

Re: In Praise of the Flint
I’m thinking the iridium as the ‘amp’ must be the issue vs other peoples experience…certainly it’s magic into every amp I’ve tried it with. Will dust off the helix and try it in the loop when I get time and report back.

Re: Do I finally get Fender amps?
Really happy with it, have a Eminence GA in it and it’s exactly what I had in my head. Would that be the GA-SC64? I'm thinking of trying the 10" version in my Princeton. Currently has a 12" Jensen but I've never been convinced it was a good match for this amp. Yep that’s it. Great match, ...

Re: Do I finally get Fender amps?
Mike knows what he’s talking about. Matt, I need to lend you this DR I picked up at some point, it’s exactly what I wanted. The bright switch sorts the ice pick issue, and the more mids lead channel is pedal nirvana. Really happy with it, have a Eminence GA in it and it’s exactly what I had in my h...

Partscasters are an exercise in self-fulfilment because you never get their value back on resale. I think of the 6 I’ve put together I broke even once.

Re: Would you happily play a really cheap guitar?
The sub-$1k Reverends I was buying second hand 5-7 years ago I’d put against anything I’ve purchased since. But the ‘gots-ta-have’ stepped in and here I am with nothing under the $3k mark, and actually no happier.

Re: Gretsch Love
I’ve had every major food group of guitar apart from a Gretsch, and for no good reason…have had a number of TV Jones-fitted Teles that I loved. And I’ve always loved the look of Falcons, but I guess visually I’ve always favoured the ES335 in that kinda footprint size… May revisit… Man you need a Gr...
