Marshall JCM600
Anyone played/owned one? I’ve got one sitting here I’ve inherited and contemplating whether it’s worth seeing what is involved in fixing it up. The few YT clips I’ve found seem to suggest a pretty plexi sound?

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
Every time I see this thread upped I feel to ask: Anyone like Pina Coladas? And walks in the rain? I do actually, but my serious confession is really enjoying playing that song. on the bass :) Don't ask me about Barry Mannilow, it won't end well. Barry is big in India, because he writes the songs t...

Re: The Stratosphere
Looks like I could land a complete 60s road worn strat in parts from them for ~ $1600... whhheeeee There is (was?) a cheap alder strat body from Music Gift on TM. Not sure what they are like but, IIRC, they were $150 or so! Thinking more about resale tho', a proper fender strat will still have some...

Re: Classic electric solid body guitar pickup comparison.
I’ve done something similar as an experiment. Basically it sounds different, but that was because the sustain etc varies based on the wood - is the way the string itself reacts based on the rigidity of the bracing it is held in changes. At the end of the day it’s still a piece of wire moving through...

Re: Hamilton Rockers Reunion 28 Feb
Glorious look. Nick Cave went to considerable effort trying to emulate that, with less success (IMHO). Even the Chest Hair V is present and correct. I'm surprised you made it out of Hamilton without Chlamydia looking like that. Who said he did? Gentlemen always assume the best of each other, Jim......

Re: Your most versatile guitar?
HSS strats. Especially my HSS Suhr.
Which is why I hardly ever play it (unless it’s like a 4 hour covers gig). I like the uniqueness and personality of the less versatile stuff

I must say Oldie, your guitars always pose so well. That transparent top looks great, always partial to anything veering towards orange.

Re: Redplate Blackverb previous owners??
Used to be mine too! Was a great amp, but I was on a 'must EL84' thing at the time, ended up with Matchless Lightning and a Nighthawk at the same time.
Shoulda bought a DC30 and been done with it.

Re: Line6 Heeeeeelix!
A Helix to replace a Kemper? Definitely no way  Depends what you're after. There are many areas where the Kemper falls short of the Helix. The entire FX library, for example. And any tweaking that extends outside the very limited range the profile you’re using allows for. But as a snapshot of ...

Re: Line6 Heeeeeelix!
Yeah the defaults almost universally suck unless they’re higher gain (and therefore already compressed). I can only imagine their intent with them is into mixes to cut, or recording as I find all the clean amp models ‘brittle’, trebly and thin. But a little massaging and that goes away, especially w...

Re: Line6 Heeeeeelix!
I have a terrible habit of re-buying things. I now have my 3rd Helix, and 2nd LR Baggs Venue DI. Might hold onto the Helix for an extended period now, too many times when I didn't have it I was thinking 'man that'd be the ideal thing for this little gig'. do you even remember where all your gears a...
