Re: Amp issue - help needed please!
Presumably that's C106? That goes between lugs 2 and 3 of the jack. According to Aiken amps it's there for added protection against noise/interference: "...Fortunately, there is a simple addition to the star ground scheme that will make for a very quiet amplifier with no RFI. Simply add a 0.01u...

It's a 220n cap rated for 63v. I have about 100 of them if you get stuck and are in Auckland. Although mine are 100v and a little fatter to reflect this.
Then reflow those solder joints around the jack and you should be sweet. Solder does harden and crack over time.

Re: Amp issue - help needed please!
Take out the PCBs and have a look. I don't think you'll be able to repair anything from the outside and I suspect the ground connection isn't as reliable as it should be.

Re: Test driving the mini JCM800 from Elams
Looks cool. Have you tried diming the master volume and adding just enough preamp gain to get some crunch? Is he looking for any more testers? I have, but I like having windows so the gain was an atom above 0. Since there's no enclosure for it and it's literally unique I told him it wouldn't leave ...

Test driving the mini JCM800 from Elams
This little guy, handmade by Mr Elams of youtube amp building fame. As an idea of size it's sat on top of a Mesa Stiletto 1x12 and is more or less half the width. https://i.imgur.com/Hz3pS58.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bjSJa4M.jpg In true prototype fashion it has printed labels and mismatched knobs. I g...

Gumtree is good if they're willing to ship. Since they use PayPal integration you've got recourse if something goes wrong. I got my Charvel from Australian Gumtree.
I've bought 3 guitars from MusicSwopShop (sic) in Melbourne over the last 2 years and they've always been fantastic.

Re: Thoughts: converting fender vaporizer ...
In saying that , I think I actually have an after market Hammond bassman PT No idea, but if you read what he said: "I bought a vaporizer with scratched tolex for chep as my first "tube amp", but didn't like the sound that much, so I learned about vintage electronic and used the cab a...

Re: 1982 Boss BF-2 resurrection
Because it was 99% dead and the fix was reasonably involved the guy let it go for the cost of shipping. Someone has already offered me $200 for it.
I replaced all the other electros last night as I don't trust them, being as old as they are.

And here's a handy diagram I made myself comprised of my photo and the board layout from the service manual which I flipped and overlaid to better identify what is what from the solder side. May it help visitors from the future.

Re: 1982 Boss BF-2 resurrection
Sweeeet, what did you think of the sound of it? these are highly regarded! First I hated it. It was distorting every note like a dying fuzz pedal and clipping at the extreme range of things. I opened it up and dialed in the 3 trimpots and now it's really good. Warm, thick, colourful, doesn't sound ...
