Re: Your most versatile guitar?

ES339 with coil splits. Can get a Les Paul sound, a single coil sound and a pretty decent strat-like quack. Just needs a bigsby for some twiddlestick action. Though at the rate I've been breaking strings this summer, I don't know if I'm ever going to gig with just one guitar.

EQD The Depths Clone

I recently got the pedal building bug again and grabbed a couple of boards from pedalpcb.com This is the second one I have built. The first was a Bit Commander clone. This one is a clone of the Earthquaker Devices The Depths. This is the first pedal I've had to really diagnose to get it working. I w...

Re: The Best 'Cheap' Pedals

Joyo American Sound - I love the overdrive on this and the eq is really usable.
Mooer Tender Octave - Version 1. Upper octave wasn't amazing but the lower was great. Regret selling it.

I'm hoping so. I still haven't found my holy grail of overdrives yet.

Good to hear, as that's exactly what I'll be doing with it.

Waiting on the King of Tone

After 2 years of waiting, the day that my name comes up on the King of Tone list is drawing near. I put my name down in January 2017, the list is up to November 2016. Is anyone else on the waiting list or have one of these rarities in their collection?

Re: Anorexic Wooly Mammoth

The input capacitor value together with the components which set the input impedance form a high pass (bass cut) filter In a fuzz face (which the wooly mammoth mostly is) the input impedance is quite low, around 8kohms. So the high pass filter frequency is something around 90HZ with the 220nf input...

Re: Anorexic Wooly Mammoth

The Bit Commander is definitely more complicated than the Wooly Mammoth. Seems similar complexity to the Tremulus Lune tremolo I built. I'm not sure if I'll use Stripboard again: https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2015/09/earthquaker-devices-bit-commander.html Or go with this: https://www.pedalpcb...

Anorexic Wooly Mammoth

I got the pedal building bug again. Wanted to try something simple this time and I don't have any fuzz pedals so I just picked one at random and built it, a Z.Vex Wooly Mammoth clone from here: https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2011/02/zvex-woolly-mammoth-vero.html https://i.imgur.com/ZZZQUkS.jpg...

Re: I did a good thing! BOSS Acoustic Singer amp video

The new BOSS Acoustic Singer amp is a different animal compared to the Roland AC acoustic amps. It was built to compete in the Fishman Loudbox sort of price area whilst offering superior sound quality. It wasn't built with the AER market in mind, but in fact when I took the prototype to Lloyd for h...

Re: I did a good thing! BOSS Acoustic Singer amp video

Cool man, nice work on the video producing. How does it stack up soundwise alongside an AER compact? Is it competing with those amps or is it more on the Roland end of things?

Re: What are you learning?

I'm trying to get better at lead and someone suggested I learn Vai and Satriani. I've never even listened to them before. Not my kind of music but like Paganini, I can appreciate the skill. I'm learning For The Love of God by Vai first. The bends/tricks/vibrato is fairly easy, for me it's the shredd...

It's gorgeous. The only way it could be better is if it had this colour scheme: https://youtu.be/99ksFeq0fwI?t=46s
