Re: Dummy Plugs

Could pop down to Jaycar and get an adaptor for $2.50? Wouldn't look too bad as long as nobody tries to plug their aux cable into it :P https://www.jaycar.co.nz/3-5mm-mono-socket-to-6-5mm-mono-plug-adaptor/p/PA3588 I wondered about those.... they wouldn't pick up anything being basically a smaller ...

Dummy Plugs

Hi all, Aside from making your own, does anyone know if you can/where you can buy dummy plugs/jacks to put into an amp's input (am setting up a rig where the amp is to be used for the power stage only and to bypass the automatic muting on the amp, something has to be plugged in the input) The soluti...

Re: How to sound like an 80s guitarist

Just found some old tracks I did through the Rockman X100 to see what sort of sounds it could do, including a re-make of Hysteria I did...18 layered tracks of drums included. Gives you a little idea on the chorus sound. All guitar sounds you hear are through the X100. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: How to sound like an 80s guitarist

I've got two early rev Rockman X100's (one user, one back up) I use to thicken rhythm tracks. Pulls out a mean 80's lead but you have to give it a bit of external processing to get it out of the middy Boston zone. The chorus clean tone is quite amazing considering when this thing came out. I also ha...

Re: Show us the guitar you’ve had the longest

Haven't had it as long as many others but this one has come, gone and come back again. Got it in the early 2000's off eBay...a 1994 Waynes World 2 Fender MIM Stratocaster. Put in a whole new EMG DG20 Pickguard, swapped the original neck out for a rosewood Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Model neck (and &...

Re: What strings do you use and why? Plus Picks. Plus cables.

Strings: NYXL 9-42s. Why? Was given a set and they stay bright and have a high breaking point. If it ain't broke don't fix. Picks: 1.26mm White Derlin Clayton USA. Why? Because I buy in bulk and it has my name on them. Cables: DiMarzio Braided Red Instrument Cables. Why? They look cool, Yngwie used ...

80s Vocalist/Lyricist Wanted for recording only!

Think Robin McAuley (MSG), Goran Edman, David Coverdale or Petri Vehviläinen in terms of range...if you think you've got it, get in touch. Studio based originals that need that epic 80s ballad vocal to complete a track or two. No band commitments or gigs to worry about! Come sing, write some lyrics ...

Re: Chibsons

Got quite a few different ones from a handful of Malmsteen strats to some King V's and after a fret dress, set up and sometimes a pickup swap out, they kick major ass and have some of the best neck profiles of any gat I've come across.

Re: Gear you've owned more than once....

Fender 'Wayne's World 2' Stratocaster MIM from '94. Bought the guitar in from off eBay back in 2006 or so, put EMG DG20 pickups in it along with a rosewood Yngwie Malmsteen neck. Didn't like the neck, put the original back on, still wasn't feeling the guitar, so on TradeMe it went. Come January of 2...

Re: 4x12 cab handles in NZ?

Its funny, the handle assembly in my Mode Four cab feels "cheaper", like its all plastic, no rotating bit, etc, but it feels so damn solid its probably a better design  If you ever want to sell the cab, PM directly. I only buy Mode Four amps/cabs and have a wall of them that always n...
