As far as I know, all Jacksons made in Japan are made at the Chushin Gakki factory. As slash-ed has said, the main attraction is the fact that they offer higher spec instruments for cheaper prices than the import (and USA obviously) counterparts. DLS, Timmy, Diamond.

DLS from what I've heard is pretty much a RAT but huger sounding, Timmy sounds awesome. Diamond because its does all the rest and because I've had and wasn't overally crazy about the J&H.

I brought back a Jackson Kelly on the plane from Japan. It just depends on the amount of luggage the other passengers have. Just ask politely.

Im actually selling a SD Custom as we speak. Not sure how it is in mahogany as I've always used in alder bodied guitars.

Decent sound quality, listening through headphones so can't really say. However, playing-wise and vocals very close to original on album...
