Re: George L Cables.

My guitar GLs are straight plugs with a grubscrew. Patches are 90 deg. connectors with an inbuilt screw. Last time I just used kitchen scissors, but yeah I'd say it is advisable to get a clean straight cut that's not duck-arsed by blunt sidecutters. If I was gettin a new guitar cable I'd prolly try ...

Re: George L Cables.

I've been using the thick GL from guitar to stomper, and the thin one from stomper to amp for about 10 years. no probs. The thin one has died twice at the amp input ( obvious place ) - cut off an inch or so and re-attach the plug and it's fixed. I don't think I will live long enough for this cable t...

Ok so maybe you're not so good with dates, but it's much more important to have good taste in music :D

IWTSFY is a cool song, it caught my ear when it was playing in RealGroovy one day (in 2007 )

Re: Best looking pedals?

I remember destroying a Jansen 8-50 with one of these one night in 1975... 2899896701_15db681e22 (450 x 338).jpg I remember those - Hi-Fli-Synth-i or something. Ragnarok used one... Butterfiles in the Sky. I saw one in Harmony House once. Wanted it so bad. I could have destroyed my Jansen 6-12 with...

Re: NZOA grants announced

no offense to you or your band Sam but the whole NZOA thing just irks me noend. they are so blatantly enslaved to only supporting artists whom they believe will/may have some fraction of commercial viability that FAR too much great music and so many amazingly talented artists simply get ignored.......

The easy way, of course, to overcome this "problem", would be to get really drunk. Or play really loud. Or Both  Works for me, anyway. yeah perhaps I'm making it more complex than it needs to be ;) Well they (the mysterious "they") say that you have to love your own sel...

Re: Shrinking my amp - Ohms issue?

I've been thinking some more about my amp situation. Actually, it's just about all I think about. LOL. I know exctly how you feel. It's easy to say to yourself "plenty of time - no hurry", but it ain't over till it's over. In fact it's never really over cos once you have one amp finished,...

Re: How do you tweek your tone? oo-err...

What I find a pain in the arse is bending over to play around with the tone on the pedal, or the gain, or etc... then playing the same thing over, by this time I've forgotten what it was it sounded like before that. I just sit down with a low table in front of me and put the pedal on that. Luxury. ...

Re: Cables

Besides robustness, capacitance is the big issue for me, esp with longer cable lengths, and most mfers aren't very upfront about this vital characteristic. I use mostly George L cables and patch cables - I know for a fact they're very low cap, and I've been happy with them. I've had a few Fender/Whi...
