What I have generally found is that if the guitar is 3 of these things they are generally pretty good:
1; Old
2: Well played
3: Made is the US
Exceptions everywhere of course as I once had a Peavey (made by Landola) that was a great sounding guitar. Met the first 2 criteria though...

The Band's singer has a Martin acoustic. He bought it over 15 years ago and has hammered it ever since. Pretty sure that is my one that I fitted the Dearmond pickup to. Stroppy guitar, great for white stripes type stuff.

That Ibanez guitar sounds absolutely terrible. Really thin and trebly, almost no sustain. I suppose it suits this style of playing & music well as it is easy to get it over the top of the mix. And playing that fast, you need attack & not sustain. Here's something entirely opposite: [youtube...

I dont think I am in their target demographic but even if I were, why would I not just hunt out an original Kramer, Hamer, Guild, Ibanez or Schecter or whatever ? But i loved all the marketing speak in the most droll unexcited voiceover ever.....
