Re: What's on your work bench?
Fret ends snipped and beveled. Now for my least favorite part - masking off the board ready for level and crown.

Re: Considering a partscaster: Please im-part your knowledge
All assembled today. Still needs a lot of adjusting and set up. The nut has been the trickiest piece of the puzzle. SO much filing. And these Aliexpress nut files are almost completely useless. Its still way too high, so I've been filing the bottom to take some meat off, but I'm not sure if thats t...

Re: What's on your work bench?
20220312_185210.jpg The refret is going ahead on that President hollowbody I posted about the other day. Neck has been under heat and clamps to deal with a bit of a twist and forward bow. That seems to have worked well, and the frets came out much easier than I expected. Let's hope the rest if it g...

Re: What's on your work bench?
Argh……. Pre drilled, pre threaded, pre lubed…….and still….. Don't you just hate cheap fasteners... I wonder if you could really secure it nice and tight in a drill press if you could then drill it out. I've done exactly that more than once. The nice thing about cheap screws is that they're so soft ...

Re: What's on your work bench?
I'd pin punch it back the other way hoping it doesn't splinter it's way on out. Support op side of surface on wood or something. I'm rough but effective. Effective for sure, but puts any damage in plain view on front of the headstock. I'd rather have the damage on the back and hidden by the tuner. ...

Re: What's on your work bench?
Argh……. Pre drilled, pre threaded, pre lubed…….and still….. Don't you just hate it when that happens? I feel your pain. And I would question what that screw is made of. Ouch. You probably already know, but you can get bits for removing screws - kind of a reverse threaded spiral shaped thingy. I've ...

Re: Marillion • An Hour Before It’s Dark
Before Covid hit Marillion we’re planning to do a weekend event in Australia. Damn, I hope they put this back on the agenda. I’m a huge fan, but I’ve not seen them live since the 80s. Same here. Saw them a couple of times at Aylesbury Friars very early 80s, then at Reading Rock Festival in both 82 ...

Re: Guitar dispute, anyone got a lawyer friend?
It would be interesting to see and measure the bow with strings off and truss Rod nut fully loose. Is it possible to 'heat' the neck back straight while applying opposed tensión? Interesting suggestion. I've done this three or four times with good results over the years - just a combination of heat...
