Did you stain the maple darker? It kinda looks like flamed walnut, which ain't no bad thing. Yeah, I ended up staining it darker. Nah it's not flat... I wanted a carved top of sorts but I was limited by the thickness of the timber I had.

Finished this a while ago but haven't got around to taking any pics until now. 5pm inside on a winter's day isn't ideal (a photographer I'm not!), but oh well...

Really pleased with how it ended up. Learnt a lot along the way.
