Re: Auckland / Southland gearfest
Sorry to hear this BG hope all goes well, being that far away must make it stressful. I know how this feels, had couple of bad falls with Dad but he has bounced back.

New wiring harness for the Squier Starcaster, the current vol pots are more like on off switches, very little sweep. Once I get this in go the Mojotone WRHBs.

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
yep keep us posted :) Quite the surprise, they arrived today, ordered on the 17th so damn quick, wondering if they came from Australia but no indication on the box, Fastway put their sticker over the label. Well quelle surprise they are a decent bit of kit. Hard plastic outer which seems quite dura...

Yeah I doubt they would do any good playing a gig but for me just playing at home I think they may be adequate, side entry they can flex up beside the side so maybe OK. All an experiment at a cheap price.

Have a set of these coming, 2.4 GHz wireless so I can sit anywhere in the house and play through the Deluxe, cheap US$40 so will see how they go, reviews seem OK.

Yeah my MikeC/BG Deluxe is fantastic value, the little MPC Princeton is also great. The others are vintage so a little different.

Re: Would you happily play a really cheap guitar?
All mine are sub $1000. The most expensive is a Squier VM Jazzmaster, amazing quality for the $900 cost. Next is the Squier Starcaster, again top fit and finish. I do have a set of Mojotone WRHB to install, the Squier ones are not quite the same magnet set up. Many years ago I bought a $3500 dollar ...

Re: What's on your work bench?
Certainly a few out there but the ones like Creamery, Fralin etc were the cost of the guitar, wasn't going to go that road. These were US$258 which stung but was doable.

Re: What's on your work bench?
An upgrade for the Starcaster, closer to the original WRHB with magnetised pole pieces screwed in.

Upgrade pickups for the Starcaster, looked at the Creamery, Lollars etc but they were way too expensive, so went for Mojotone, hopefully these will do the job.

That is quite a coincidence Bruce I watched this video on making a floating top guitar last night.

Re: Offset chat
Not played out or with anyone for over 10 years, I'll leave them then, to be honest I have been impressed with the Indonesian Jazzy and Starcaster fit and finish. Yeah I like mucking around with guitars but mostly old vintage stuff, neck resets and the likes. I'll stick to that, have quite a queue w...

Custom Harvester Goldthwait Such a great guitar. Mahogany body and maple neck. 9.5" radius. Mastery everything. Dangerous hatchet headstock. Hand wound lace JM pickups (now has fralin p90s) https://imgur.com/yTvNDPe.jpg Wow that headstock really reminds of the sixties Kay guitars. So my Squier...
