Re: Tony Hadley

I have tried to find out his last name but it eludes me. Superb player. I would guess Richard Barratt who still holds the gig. A fine and smokin guitar player imho. Yup! finally found him. Hadley had a great sense of humour...came out at the start and said "we are going to play all the hits, &...

Tony Hadley

yes in the eighties I was a fan of Spandau Ballet - from "Cut a Long Story Short" to "True" and beyond. The show at Christchurch James Hay theatre was low key production but high energy performance. The band, Drums, bass, guitar, keys , and percussion, were all top flight pl\play...

Re: Recording Bass

LOL Classic Lawrence!!! Whats your thoughts on compression on bass, is it a must have cause bass players are so inconsistent??? :mental: I am old school enough not to want to destroy dynamics...but a strong foundation is critical. Of course many good experienced bass players can play consistently a...

Re: Recording Bass

Bass is fascinating. Many of the great albums we love were recorded with a just a DI. Many with just a mic. Until the eighties there were no really good clean bass amps - well the amps and the acoustic were good but everyone read them past their limit on stage...so the live tomes were gritty. Those ...

Re: number 28

How many are you selling are all these $ down custom builds? What I love about your builds is you are not relying on paint to be the focus, you use so many different facets to your art, I find that quite inspiring. I love crackle paint and glow on off neon klll switches and all that shreddery stuff...

Re: the Come Together Ziggy Stardust show.

... At the end of the day though, musicians are the harshest critics, and if people bought tickets, danced all night and loved it, then the band did their job, every one gets paid, great success. Or at least that's my take as a sort of commercial musician, not an Artisté. its impossible to argue wi...

Re: the Come Together Ziggy Stardust show.

I think tribute bands should be very close to original. Covers bands I’m ok with them keeping the recognisable elements of a song but being freer to mix it up. I ended up leaving a tribute band as it close to gigging. One of the reasons was I didn’t think it was going to live up to what a punter ex...

the Come Together Ziggy Stardust show.

the Come Together Ziggy Stardust show came to town. Of course I went. I say of course but we debated first. We both love Bowie...Ive seen him 4 times and Shari only the last time (3 weeks before the heart attack). In the end we decided it would be great to hear the songs live again. Now I want to sa...

Re: The Arps Chronicles.

kia ora whanau Slowy you're a legend! Glad you like the gat. here is a piece of the chronicle. A few weeks back we gathered to celebrate Morris Taylor who was not well, and has since died from cancer. Lots of people played at the gig and donated cash for him and his family. I volunteered this but he...
