Re: Guitar food groups and must try guitar sounds

I do not think everyone must try any of those experiences. Well you've got me there. I like to try lots of different flavours because they are inspiring to me and it brings me a lot of happiness, but many people can be content with what they've got. I like 'genre bending'. If I think back to my Dad...

They might be the Goldilocks that you’ve been looking for if humbuckers are dark and hot, single coils too thin and noisy, and P90’s are too ballsy
Yeah. I need to give them a proper try I reckon.

Re: Guitar food groups and must try guitar sounds

I really do want to try some gold foils at the moment... Make sure you try some original Teisco ones and not the plethora of modern variations with 'gold foil ' in their title. The original ones that earn all the praise are the models with the pole pieces to the side, not in the middle. They really...

I have a set of humbucker sized gold foils available at the moment if that would tickle your fancy.
Go away please

Guitar food groups and must try guitar sounds

Everyone should know the bluesy sound of a Strat neck pickup and the gritty or quacky in-between positions depending on the gain level. Tele's have their bark and the spanky middle position. Les Pauls seem to have an extra level of power, gain and sustain that you just don't normally find in a flat ...

Reaper is great and can do anything you need it to.

The best DAW is the one you know how to use.

Re: Show us your pedalboard

Time to rejig the pedalboard :) IMG_20240126_183929.jpg Exciting! You've been in the Fractal corner for a while, eh? Would love to hear your thoughts on how they compare... not just tone, but UX too! Yeah. I've literally only plugged it in for 30 seconds so far to test that it works, but this is th...

If it doesn't have one, leave it. If it has one, leave it on.

Re: The Gibson Les Paul Model thread

Part of me wants to take out the PAFs and put in some Doug Aldrich pickups, but it already sounds fantastic so I may not do that. Does it have 498/490 or Bill Lawrences (PCB backplate)? I'd go for the Aldrich over 498/490 but the BL's sounded pretty cool. They read 8.5k for the neck pickup and 16k ...

Re: The Gibson Les Paul Model thread

Looking for a 60th R9...but it's missing?! Dong Hua has that one I think? Good info. My hands are telling this is even more monstrous than the BBR7's. I'll get me callipers out in the weekend. When I bought my BBR5 I had to pick between that and a 50th Anni 68 Reissue. Went for the '55 since I alwa...

Re: The Gibson Les Paul Model thread

90-something LPC - I seriously can't put this thing down. This one has a nice medium weight, normally I find LPs cumbersome, but this isn't. Love the neck shape too - it's just right. Phew. It has aged really tastefully. Part of me wants to take out the PAFs and put in some Doug Aldrich pickups, but...
