Re: TCE Fluorescence mod question

This sounds interesting though. judging from the comments section, it doesn't seem foolproof.

Yep, I'm on their mailing list. :) Unfortunately, free shipping to NZ doesn't happen as frequently as I'd like.

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?

One of the many downsides of the COVID stuff is that things are harder to find. Music Planet stopped bringing in acoustic bass strings and anyway, my faves (Elixirs) aren't being made anymore. The Rockshop reckons they have 12 sets of ABG strings throughout the whole country(!). Probably fewer now b...

Re: TCE Fluorescence mod question

The volume drop thing is fairly unique, not something I’ve experienced before! Hmmm... it IS a shimmer though. Have you used others? I do notice a little bit of a volume drop when using any sort of reverb. ADDED: maybe it's not a VOLUME DROP as such, more that the sound is now in its own little env...

Re: Show us your gig

Bit of a dredge, I know, but I'm quite happy with this band.
We don't normally have a frontman so this was a bit of change. Unfortunately, he's only here until February.

Awww thanks. :)

Yeah, playing just acoustic bass guitar and just as a solo instrument I began to feel I didn't have much to ask or to contribute.

I don't know that a better reverb would solve the volume difference thing though.

TCE Fluorescence mod question

Hi, I love my TCE Flurorescence (shimmer reverb). It's a wonderful pedal. There's only one problem, I lose a lot of volume when I use it. It's fine if I have it on all the way through a song but if I want to use it in just part of a song it doesn't go well because all of a sudden I can't be heard ov...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

Took the strings off my bass to give it a clean a couple of weeks ago. Got these strings in 2005, so still plenty of life in them, but them back on afterwards. How often are you changing bass strings? This really doesn't make sense to me! I go through a set of Elixirs in about six months, a set of ...

... yes, or take up guitar.

I've actually been thinking of dusting off the baritone as it has the same scale length as a bass. But the strings feel so fiddly!

Worth thinking about. A set of strings can cost about $80 so it's a fair whack every time. I'm just glad I don't play double bass, they cost hundreds.

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

Is there anything you can do to rejuvenate old strings? I know folk used to boil them. Yeah, I tried that many years ago and it SORT OF works. They don't sound NEW but, for a couple of weeks, they sound like they're only about a month old. I've also seen a video where Dmitry Lisenko (an acoustic ba...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?

I finally have something in the mail so I can post in this thread. I finally bit the bullet and bought strings off the net. It's been a major PITA because Elixir has stopped production on my faves (I play acoustic bass guitar, if we've never met). Not just that but AB strings in general are starting...

Re: New pedals of epicness

Just pointing out thats why it has issues ;) I'm not sure it HAS "issues". Yes, it sucks up volume but it's a reverb (and a pretty massive chunk of reverb) so maybe that's not so surprising. Reverb always makes things sound a little bit far away. The annoying thing is that if I was to use...
