RATM/Bjork/Battles/Arcade fire I'm soooo there 8) the current crop of rumours are that Queens of the stone age and the Smashing Pumpkins will be announced. Turns out they weren't :( The second announcement was poos, making this about the weakest BDO lineup I've seen. I'd love to see Rage, but there...

Awesome live act, saw them in Welly on The Colour and The Shape tour, which was how I got into them in the first place, and again at BDO. Won't be there this time though - I'll be coming back from the US that day - plus it's in Auks. With Ozzy confirmed for the Easter Wellington gig, I'll be there f...

Since there is a thread for distortion questions... I'm thinking about a Zakk Wylde MXR distortion pedal, to be played through a circa 1990 Marshall Valvestate 80, with an as yet undetermined guitar. It'll be strictly bedroom use. Anyone got any experience with these and will I get a good Zakky soun...

A Zakk Wylde set is $198US from Guitar Centre, so I imagine that's comparable on most US sites - might be a cheaper option if you can find one that ships here for a reasonable price. Rockshop in Lower Hutt has them for $450, although they said if I bought them and a guitar they'd fit them for free.....

Thanks again guys, this is all helping to crystalise some of the thoughts whirring around my cranium? My original ploy was just going to be to drop a set of Zakk EMGs into an LP studio, something that could be achieved for around US$500. I was, however, unsure about whether being a Studio it would b...

That's helpful  hamo... What type of music do you play, I presume it's more towards metal, but what sound do you want to go for, and have you had any experience with the more pointy shapes? They can be a bit strange to adapt to, and aren't for everyone... Although personally most traditional ...

Buying in LA: Pt 2 - now with 100% more annoying questions
Hi guys, I'm back with more annoying questions. Basically I'm a bit of a novice at buying gear, and being as this'll be the last time until we win Powerball that the wife let's me spend money on a guitar, I want to get it right. I'm also a bit of a hermit and don't know too many other players that I...
