Re: How much will YOU pay??
Until recently the most I'd paid for a guitar was $1200 for a Les Paul special doublecut in about 1997. When I last went shopping for a new one, a PRS SE was $1500 and I thought I'd done well bargaining it down to $1000 until about 4 months later when the RS started selling them for $895. Since that...

Re: How much will YOU pay??
if I won lotto, I'd be spending my cash in NZ stores rather than US ones.. only get overseas what I could not get here Obviously. I'm not going to fly twenty hours to buy something I could get at the RockShop half an hours drive in my new Koenigsegg away. Kramer Nightswans and HM Strats will be in ...

Re: Fixed bridges
I like the extra height/angle you get with a tune-o-matic or wraparound. The wraparound bridges that are adjustable (I think Gotoh and Wilkinson do them among others) are cool but the non-adjustable ones (PRS SE, Les Paul Jr) can be a pain if you prefer heavier strings. I've only played a PRS SE wit...

Next Auckland gearfest
Not to be rude or anyfink but how are people placed on the weekend of November 15/16? I'm going to be up in the AK that weekend and it's be just terrific good fortune if there happened to be a gearfest happening that weekend. I'll bring my Savoy if it does... :D :D :D If I'm stepping on anyone's toe...

That is farking cool! The last 2 guitars you've posted here (this one and Darkness's hot rod) are my 2 favourite of yours I've seen Ash. I particularly like the slightly offset shape you've introduced to the Heilo.

Re: When is a guitar modded 'beyond redmption'
As far as buying am instrument that someone had already modded, I guess it kind of comes down to how reversable a mod is. As far as the bridge goes, as long as it's in the same "family" as the original then I guess its still the same axe. As soon as the neck or boday is swapped though, it ...

Steinberger make some "gearless tuners" that would fit the bill. Not cheap though.

since it's 5 all I say let whoever books the venue decide. Is Eclipse in Petone still possible? I think Welly CBD will just be a bit tricky.

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
Just finished this last weekend. Mahogany body (neck pocket and pickups routed by Ash), Allparts neck, hand carved top, Rio Grande Jazzbar and Bluesbar p-90s, 1meg vol pot, Grover tuners and a whopping great shiny Bigsby b70. The pickups are awesome- send a twin into beautiful creamy overdrive and t...

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
My bit of sapele loveliness. Ash made the neck for me and I did the body. Quite heavy but it sounds damn fine. Bareknuckle "Crawler" pickups, Schaller bridge, Grover tuners, 1meg volume pot, 6-way switch. I still need to make some matching pickup surrounds though.
