Re: Late 70s Strats - thoughs?

Pretty typical for Fender. Most S9's are 1980.

These pickups should sound real good. Hotter than the vintage stuff...more bottom end too.

Re: 1974X 18 watt - StewMac kit FOR SALE _ Offers

Possibly a dumb question, but given the orientation of the tubes, that chassis would only work in a head cab yeah? Ideally, as otherwise all the heat travels into the chassis. Also the labels will be backwards and the knobs will have a weird 0-10 sweep. You could do it though if you really really w...

Ideally, but big makers also use the same head chassis for combo's. Like 65Amps - all their smaller combos have the tubes horizontal.

I have this in a head now, and we have a purchaser.

Not at this point - I need that cab for something else. I do have a head shell, just not black Marshall type. But send me a PM if you’re keen on the shebang.

Ah, it is basically this...same parts, everything. New, NZD$900 plus shipping (what's the guess there - $200?).

Re: 1974X 18 watt - StewMac kit

Oh, I thought you were wanting to sell it? I have no idea what such things are worth, but all the non branded amp circuits, as cool as they may be are going for less and less it would seem. None of the ones I’m watching on tm are selling at all! My friend would love this as a project though, so if ...

1974X 18 watt - StewMac kit FOR SALE - SOLD

I have acquired this (Marshall) 1974x amp circuit, with excellent trannies, lovely alloy chassis, classy faceplates, Mojo caps, and a compliment of JJ tubes (has an EZ81 rectumfryer). The soldering etc isn't as tidy as I'd like to see it, but it sounds like it should. Gritty and driven after 3/4 on ...

Re: My Marshall JMP 1987 clone. Sound clip. The Unchained Riff (of course).

I bought a JJ 12AX7S because the short plate design is supposed to have very low microphonics and noise. Nope. The trusty old Shuguang 12AX7Bs in there are much less noisy, less microphonic, and sound nicer too. Still my favourite modern production ECC83 valve. Too bad the factory burned down. Supp...

Re: NGD: 1963 Fender Jazzmaster

This guitar is one of the most original pre CBS Fenders I've had the privilege of owning. The wear is all honest, and the patina is hard to believe unless you see it in person. This guitar should never be cleaned or a drop of polish applied - it's a work of art. Ants describes that neck pickup very ...
