With a burn mark like that I'd replace the resistor at a matter of principle. It'll take 30 seconds. I'd use a vishay 5 watt as well for peace of mind. Makes perfect sense. Those young dad's couldn't afford the Gibsons when they were seeing them on stages, now they can. However, I wonder if today's kids will care so much about the legacy brands in 15 years. I suspect not but time will certainly tell.
