Metallica plays NZ in Nov
Just heard this on the news. I've never seen Metallica live so I think it might be something I have to do.
Who else is keen?

Yeah I'm keen, to meet up for beer first, though I'll probably give 'tallica a miss. Not really my pint of kilkenny
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

It's all rumour based on this interview with Lars:

No dates or venues yet.
Metallica definitely count as "kind of a big deal who I've never seen before", so I'll be there.

Saw them in 1998 I think it was, Load/Reload-era, and they still kicked ass. I have a tentative pass from her indoors, so I may well be there.

Meh, might go if they play Wellington.
Was that at the Events Centre? Me and my mate were in Welly for some other reason that night and found ourselves wandering around outside trying to scrounge some tickets on the off. We failed.hamo wrote:Saw them in 1998 I think it was, Load/Reload-era, and they still kicked ass. I have a tentative pass from her indoors, so I may well be there.

think that was the one I went to... they did a bunch of acoustic stuff too ...was pretty under-whelmed, ergo.. think I"ll be passing on this one.

I was about to head off to the bathroom cos they were doing, the acoustic thing, then as I was getting to the back of the hall I recognised the intro to Battery, so I had to rush back to the pit.
I caught the last half of Some Kind of Monster last night on Documentary channel. And even after that I'd still go see them again.

Saw them at the BDO 2004. Would possibly go see them again, considering last time I was in the stands I wouldn't mind getting in the pit for some of the old thrasher numbers...

If the last album they had made was master of puppets i'd be there, these days, no way

Like I said, I saw them on the Load tour, and I wasn't disappointed with the setlist. It's not like they'll be running through St Anger in its entirety...jeremyb wrote:If the last album they had made was master of puppets i'd be there, these days, no way

Re: Metallica plays NZ in Nov
Maybe they could do a "Somewhere in time"style tour and only play their cool 80's songs.
