ANYONE KNOW WHERE?

Post by Anvil Amps Alan »

Someone ( a customer)mentioned in passing that Billy TK is performing near Newmarket some where this week.
I did not take enough notice at the time.
Anyone know where the gig is?

Saturday29 May
Doug Jerebine, Billy TK
at The Lucha Lounge, 1 York Street, Newmarket

That will be one hell of a old school noise fest by a couple of NZ's finest gatslingers.

Also playing in AK town on Friday night at Tabac

Friday28 May
Doug Jerebine, Billy TK
at Tabac, 6 Mills Lane, CBD

If you don't know the history, Billy TK has been around forever, and has had all sorts of accolades thrown at him including NZs answer to Jimi Hendrix. Take that with a grain of salt, but he is a very fine guitar player. Doug Jerebine was another contender for that title in the late 60's and almost ended up playing bass for Human Instinct. As it was, they all ended up in London, Doug recorded an album as Jesse Harper which never got released until much later and a half dozen of those songs ended up being covered by Human Instinct on their first two albums. Doug Jerebine then joined the Hare Krishnas and disappeared for 30 years. To see the two of them together on one stage will make for some damn fine guitar chemistry.

There was a doco on Radio NZ National last year which featured both these guys. I think it was about Human Instinct in general. If you look on the Radio NZ website it is possibly still downloadable as a podcast in the Music101 section.
