I listen to Dylan all the time. A lot of it is great to noodle along with.

Not sure if an arena would be where I'd like to see him. Maybe if he'd do a small, smokey bar gig just for me and a few select guests (Keef and Ron for example). And maybe if we all got a chance to get up and jam. Y'know. That sort of gig. But do you think he will? No. Lazy bugger.

Thinking of going. Apparently my other half hasn't been to a gig yet. At all. Ever. So this could be good.

Her first gig should probably be something more like Hi-5 or the Wiggles...

Last time Dylan played Christchurch the music teacher from school went. He said it was like watching a drunk homeless man grumble into a microphone. Knob. The music teachers I've known have always been twisted into agonising, bitter contortions by the compromise their failed careers have become. 'I could've been a contended'. No. You couldn't. You're shit.

Dylan is a bit like modern art. You can look at it and say 'I could've done that' but the fact is, you didn't.

Soap box, sorry. Love Dylan me.....

I'm caught in a quandry about this gig.

On the one hand I want to support anyone I'm vaguely interested in when they actually decide to come to CHCH instead of the usual "NZ Tour" which consists of one or more dates in Auckland.

On the other hand I saw him play at The Fleadh festival in London back in the 90s, I'm glad I saw it and he played the full on Hendrix version of All Along The Watchtower which is one of my three top songs of all time, but his singing was appalling.

I don't know about this at the moment

As a compromise, go to the gig but bunk-in. That way you're supporting it physically but not financially. :D

Listening to Bob Dylan for his singing is a bit like going to a stripclub for the conversation. You're kinda missing the point.

So, cheapest tickets are $99. The ones I want are $159. Probably ain't gonna happen on my student budget. Time to play the fucked up child of divorce card and get my old man to pay?

I don't think you can call it singing either, perhaps mumbling is a better description
