I am not really good at giving in depth well written reviews, so ill leave it at this..

1) In 17 years of going to shows. This was top 5 easy. Venue, sound, feel, performance, everything worked in perfect
2) First time ever scoring a guitar pick
3) Gave billy K a fist bump
4) Branns vocals were on point (all were actually)
5) Played every song I wanted off the new album
6) "Oblivion" and "blood and thunder" were also highlights.

Set list here....

Saw that fist bump from the balcony - nice! :D

Yeah I think Bill didn't bring his Friedman's down under, just had those two Marshalls.

Also less guitars then they usually roll I think - Bill had a cool looking double cut Les Paul Studio I've never seen before (Jimi was closer, he might know :D) for the Drop C stuff, a Silverburst Les Paul Custom for the Drop A stuff, and the Halcyon Les Paul signature for the D Standard stuff I think.

Brent rolled his Flying Vees and SGs. Troy with his Jag bass and the other bass (Warwick maybe) for the drop A stuff.

Sounded amazing, performance was amazing... shit they can play. I swear Bladecatcher seems even faster than on the record.

The Ocean were awesome as expected. Tight and high energy. Actually even better than when I saw them in 2011, as Pelagial has stronger songs than Heliocentric/Anthropocentric.

Sitting through a whole bunch of latest Mastodon stuff for the handful of old songs I wanted to hear was a lot more of a chore than I imagined though... But I'm still glad that they made it this big with all the later materials. When I got into them back in 2004 I can't even imagine them selling out the Kings Arms let alone Powerstation.

CHCH people should go check out The Ocean on saturday:
http://www.undertheradar.co.nz/ticket/4 ... l-Tour.utr
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

Fire safety laws etc constantly reduce capacity, but I *think* Powerstation is around the 1100 mark now?

I remember crazy times back 15 years ago when some shows packed nearly double that in there ...

Yeah, Matt's really pedantic about his water, has to be exactly 10 celcius, placed near monitor and then knocked over to wake it up.

Best vibe of any show I've seen at Powerstation for a long time. Reminded me of the glory days in the mid 90's.

Here's a photo I dun took:

Ha, definitely. Unsure as to whether JB realised I was joking, or whether he's just taking it to the next level :congrats:
